Can someone please explain to me how the home run derby works?

Question:and when/where it is this year?

Answers:

What is the lowest number pitches thrown in a complete game? (9+ innings)?

It's in San Francisco on July 9th.

The Home Run Derby is a contest usually involving eight players, four from each league (though one year, it was a player from each of eight countries). Players try to hit as many home runs as they can, off of a pitcher selected by the batter, before reaching a set number of "outs" (any swing that does not result in a home run).

For example, in 2006, it was 10 outs for each player. The top four advanced to the second round. The top two advanced to the finals. In 2006, home runs were counted cumulatively through the first two rounds in determining qualifiers for the finals. The count was then reset to zero for the final round.

Is tagging a batter out before he reaches first (such as a bunt or high throw to first) considered a force out

it is acontest with a cople rounds and the homerun leaders hit homeruns. it is in sanfrancisco on the all star break

Who is the best blue collar MLB team.?

- there are 8 pre-selected batters that are from 8 different countries. (there are 4 from the NL & 4 form the AL)

- they each have 10 "outs" to get as many homers as they can get.

- a home run is recorded by hitting a ball in fair territory over the fence

- an "out" is recorded when the ball goes foul, is missed, or hasn't been hit past & over the outfield wall

the top 4 batters from the first round compete again (see above)

then the top 2 batters of that round advance and compete again ( see above)

the winner than gets a trophy

THE ALL-STAR GAME & HOME-RUN DERBY is at SAN FRANSISCO, CA for 2007

What does "rubber" mean in a "rubber game?"?

The Home Run Derby is set up into 3 rounds. In the first round the top 4 of 8 advance. In the second round 2 of 4 advance, And finally in the head up duo whoever hits the most homeruns wins the derby. This year the homerun derby is in San Francisco and on Monday July 9th.

Has anyone met John Lackey?

it is a day before the all star game. they lob the ball to the batter and anything that isnt a homer is an out, and they get 10 outs.
