2B - Rogers Hornsby
3B - Mike Schmidt
SS - Honus Wagner
LF - Ted Williams
CF - Willie Mays
RF - Babe Ruth
DH - Barry Bonds
SP - Walter Johnson
RP - Mariano Rivera

pretty straight foward... questionables are Bonds, Rivera and maybe Mays... Mantle and Cobb are up there but add speed and defense and Mays has it hands down, not even close... Rivera IS the best closer of all time... Not eckersly who some people make a case for... Rivera not only has phenomenal regular season stats but no one is history has been as lights out as him in the post season... in his prime his cutter was probably considered the most dominant pitch 1 man ever threw... Bonds, who i do not like, is one of the best hitters of all time... He gets on base, hits to all fields, hits a ton of homeruns... steroids or not, he is a great hitter... He would be put as DH because he is not considered a good fielder... welll in his young days he was a good fielder but wjhen he got older and started pounding homer after homer he lost speed and defensive talent... But the other players are self-explanatory... definitley the best team of all time... I also think Jimmie Foxx was a close 2nd place for both Gibson at Catcher and Gehrig at first but since I feel Gibson was every bit as dominant as Ruth was in the Negro leagues he gets Catcher... if Gibson was a major leaguer he would be far and out the bext hitting catcher of all time... by farrrrrrrr

1. Willie Mays
2. Honus Wagner
3. Ted Williams
4. Babe Ruth
5. Lou Gehrig
6. Josh Gibson
7. Barry Bonds
8. Mike Schmidt
9. Rogers Hornsby

**team is good

Who are the biggest rivals currently for the Toronto Blue Jays?

1st Base would be Lou Gehrig, 2nd Base would be Rogers Hornsby, SS would be Ernie Banks, 3rd Base would be Mike Schmidt, Catcher would be Johnny Bench, Outfield would be Babe Ruth in right, Willie Mays in center, and Ted Williams in left. Nolan Ryan would be the pitcher, and if you had a Designated Hitter, it would have to be Ty Cobb. As for a lineup, I'd use this one:

1: Ty Cobb
2: Rogers Hornsby
3: Ted Williams
4: Babe Ruth
5: Willie Mays
6: Lou Gehrig
7: Mike Schmidt
8: Johnny Bench
9: Ernie Banks

The DH is perhaps the hardest to figure out, with greats such as Hank Aaron left off. Barry Bonds was close in left, but due to character issues, he was left off of the list. Cobb was taken as a DH quite simply because he was a great hitter with speed, and the team had too many "power" hitters as it is. Also, other pitchers could include Cy Young, Roger Clemens, Sandy Koufax, Greg Maddux, Walter Johnson, and Dennis Eckersley as the closer.
