STEROIDSStrength needs to be developed throughout the body to succeed, as each part of the body plays a part in throwing. If your mechanics are off it will increase your chances of injuries!
How old was your kid at his (or her) first MLB game?
Unfortunately, most of your arm strength can't be gained by lifting or working out, it's just something that some people have. For example, Ichiro has amazing arm strength and while he may lift and work out, most of it was somethign he had naturally. You can improve it somewhat by lifting concentrating on core exercises (abdomen, back) and shoulders and neck.If you caught a home run ball hit by the opposing team, what would you do?

Depends on your age but the best way is to do long toss. stretch out then start throwing at 30 feet for a few minutes then go to 60 feet for a few minutes and 90 feet for a few minutes and then 120 feet for a few minutes. sometimes i only go to 90 because I'm just not feeling very good but it'll build your strength and after just a week or so you'll notice that you are throwing a lot harder. make sure you throw with good form and if you notice your getting tired and can't keep good form stop throwing. you don't want to do it everyday just do it every other day. (I normally throw monday, wednesday, friday) I used to have a real weak arm but during the off season I did this for a month and when I came back guys I had played with the year before were really shocked by how much stronger my arm was.How do i stop hitting ground balls in baseball.?
1) Squats and leg excercize: If you're throwing the ball right, most of your power is generated by your legs. Stronger legs = better throws. Especially for a pitcher.2) Long Tossing: Nobody does this any more. I'm a big believer in it. Warm up from 60 feet and once you're loose, gradually back up to about 100-120 feet and just play catch with someone for 40 or 50 throws. Very low impact, won't kill your arm too much, but really works. The old timers used to do this constantly, but younger guys now days hardly ever do it.
