If you could come up with a new type of pitch in baseball, what would you want it to do?

The reason bats are "break"ing more often nowadays is pitching. More pitchers are coming inside on power hitters limiting their ability to make the heart of the barrel come in contact with the ball. Instead, the contact is made at the weakest portion of the bat and it "breaks"

You mean break?

Few reasons:

1) Crappier wood. Companies like Louisville Slugger are now using new growth trees because they have used up their old timber. Trees only grow so fast.

2) Bats with the fewest grains in them tend to be strongest. If you see more than 10 lines in the head of a bat, it'll be weaker than it should be. Hard to find less than 10 in stores.

3) Thinner handles and cut fastballs.

4) Learning to hit with aluminum first. You can get jammed and hit it over the infielder's heads. This is also why so many "great" college hitters get filtered out in professional ball. You don't use the small part of the sweet spot with aluminum.
