When does an inning end in baseball?
Well, they look for your talent, attitude, how you handle yourself underpressure, and how easily teachable you are. Everything of which has to excel compared to the other players. You have to basically be "almost" the best player on the field, but your attitude, leadership, focus, and potential has to be the highest caliber. A baseball prospect is a big investment for these scouts, and if they see that your other attributes aren't where they should be, they'll pass on you.And I know this may sound weird, but they will also ask people in the stands about your personal life, including school, to see what is important to you. If you get bad grades they'll pass on to someone else, if you have a girlfriend they may pass (because your focus will be elsewhere, and the potential for you to accidentally get her pregnant will definitely hurt), if you're arrogant they'll pass, if you ever bad mouth an opponent, team mate or coach they'll pass, if you don't respect your parents they'll pass.
Basically, prove through your talent and dedication that you are serious about baseball, but it helps if you play other sports, show your focusness in the classroom, show your leadership but be positive at all times, show that you have no fear but you can make good decisions, don't do drugs or overparty, be a good teammate, and be a favorite to your coach (they'll have a ton of influence with scouts), stay fit to decrease the probability of injuries, GET GOOD GRADES, and overall be the best player you can but stay within your limits.
Keep in mind that like 1 out of several hundred players make it past the college level, so you REALLY have to stand out. And find summer league traveling teams to play on in a few years. The connections will help and you'll get your name out there.
they may take a look at you now, but its just that. keeping tabs on you for a couple of years, then junior year in high school is normally when they come around. but not a lot of high school players make it in the pros. unless you have stuff like josh beckett. good luck.
