Does anybody else agree with me that the D-Rays will be a scary team in a few years?
Question:Look at their offense in a few years: Young, Baldelli, Dukes, Crawford, Brignac, Longoria, Upton, Navarro, and Iwamura..now thats good young talent..Pitching may be the only cause of concern but that may improve with a few more top 5 draft picks..Any1 else agree?

If they continue to develop their players from within and keep those players, they will have a good chance. Now the pitching could be a problem, when you really don't have a solid No. 2 after Kazmir. You are not going to win with Seo, Shields, Fossum, and Edwin Jackson.Their bullpen needs to be revamped, and you know how bad it is when you have a 37 year old closer in Al Reyes shutting the door in the 9th.
Their offense looks to be good, if they continue to develop and play to their potential. You also forgot about Ben Zobrist.
Will they ever win the AL East when it's usually the Red Sox or Yanks? No. But at least they will be respectable and not a laughingstock from the year they began in 1998.
I think after they made a free agent splash in acquiring Alex Fernandez, Wade Boggs, Fred Mcgriff, and Greg Vaughn really crippled them for years. Not to mention a crappy owner who didn't put a competetive team on the field. With a new owner and a new GM, they have a shot to improve.
they could be, but they never improve their pitching enough to make any noise...they always seem to have very talented, though very young, position players, but always have difficulty finding quality pitching in their farm system
Anything is possable and the d-rays do have some good young talent

You forgot the most important component Scot Kazmir.You just don't come across good young lefties like that everyday.

Unfortunately, "The Rays young talent will make them a scary team in a few years" has been used the last 7 years at least.I'll have to take the "believe it when I see it" approach

they could be a very scary team but the problem is, they are such a low market team that players like crawford, kazmir, baldelli and delmon young will soon demand money. They might not have enough money to keep these players. Also, they are playing in the one of the best divisions in the league with big offenses such as the red sox, yankees, and blue jays. i think they will always be 3rd to the sox and yanks they will build while the sox and yanks will trade the young talent for current stars but they wont be in last for ever they have the one power hitter in dukes but thats it.yeah but there pitching needs to get better

Maybe is they get 1 or 2 quality pitchers, they might have some good years. If Kazmir turns out 2 be an ace, or they can get an ace, and put some pressure off of him, they might win some games.Don't expect immidiate results, but they'll get their fair share of wins.

The D-Rays have a lot of potential talent have seem to have scouted well. They need to scout and develop because they will NEVER outbid the Yankees and the Red Sox in the free agent market.I wish the D-Rays well, but they play in the same division with the Yankees and the Red Sox. When all is said and done, those two teams will not allow the Rays to contend for the AL East.
