Any chance of Jose Reyes ending up with 100 stolen bases this year?
Total bases / at batsTotal bases is one for a single, two for a double, etc.
At bats do NOT include plate appearances that resulted in a walk, being hit by a pitch, a sac bunt, a sac fly or reaching on catcher's interference.

What do baseball journalists say about the Home Run record ?
total bases divided by number of at bats....such as if you bat one time and hit a double you got two divided by one which is 2000 slug percentage. another example is if in one game you have 5 at bats and you hit a homer and a single you got 5 total bases divided by 5 at bats equals 1000 slug percentage...hope that helps!!total bases divided by number of at bats
What is the correct size catcher's mitt for high school baseball?
Divide the total number of bases of all base hits by the total number of times at bat.It is total bases divided by at-bats
If you didn't know what "total bases" were, you could use:
(1B + 2*2B + 3*3B + 4*HR) / AB.
Of course, the numerator there is just the formula for total bases.

Simple! You turn to the official scorer and ask; "What's his slugging percentage now?" Saves on your brain and reduces the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome from using a calculator.Otherwise, refer to Reva P's answer. It's the best.
