George brett hit 390 , why dont we hear about rod carew hitting 388?
Canceling games in Major league baseball most times is based on how easy it will be to make it up. If the same teams are to play a day game the next day, the just make it a double header. However if a team from the west is playing on eastcoast, there will be more of an effort to get the game in.5 complete innings counts as a game
Home team must have last at bat
whoever is up after 5 complete, is winner
If they dont get in 5, its as if the game never happened, no stats count.
I(n the event of a tie, an umpire can stop the game and have it continue at a later date. The score - count - outs- inning - all stay the same. Longest game ever - AAA game 35 innings, they stopped late into the night. Started over where they left off the next day.
Good?
it depends on what the weather is doing before the game. it the game is ppd before the 6th or 7th then there is a delay. but if it is past the 7th the game is called.
When will the MLB finally get a salary cap?
In Milwaukee we just close the roof. Problem solved. How long is Alex Rodreguiez's contract for the New York Yankees?
Most of the time, a game will begin and they will play until it gets to a point that it will be too hazardous to continue. If it starts to rain before half the game is finished, it will depend on how bad it s raining before a game is suspended. Now, if it starts to rain after the fifth inning and the home team has batted, it becomes an official game. If the umpire stops the game after this point, the team that is ahead will be declaredthe winner. If it is a tie, that game will be finished at a later date, usually the next day before the next game. But this is usually open for debate of both teams and whether it is directly related to a pennant race.
1) If a lot of rain is scheduled to fall before a games starts, what happens?
Answer: If its raining at game time the home team makes the decision whether or not to play. Once the field is turned over to the umpires they make the decision.
2) If it starts raining before half the game is finished?
Answer: The umpires will delay the game for a reasonable amount of time or as directed by the league. Having reached the assigned deadline the umpires will call the game and the league reschedules per league rules.
3) If it starts raining after half the game is finished?
Answer: As in number 2 above, if the required league rule for delay has been reached the game is called with the team ahead declared the winner.
4) Same question as 2 or 3, but what if the score is 0-0. Does that effect the umpires decision?
Answer: If the score is tied and the umpires call the game the league rules for rescheduling applies. It does not effect the umpires decision and the game will either be replayed as a new game or the teams will start the game from where it was called. This means all players and umpires will take the field in their respect places. Any changes must be entered into the scorekeepers book prior to commencement of the game.
