Rockies Fans...?
Question:Ok I'm not a Rockies fan.but for those of you who are...or for those of you who can give me a good answer to the question...
How come the Rockies have so many big bats in their lineup (Atkins, Helton, Holliday, Baker...) but they can't make it to the playoffs much?
Answers:
Do Manny Rameriez and David Ortiz go out with each other?
I am a rockies fan and I am wondering that question for at least 5 years now. I did a bit of research and figure out the problem is from their pitching. (to answer another question, the rockies doesnt have big bats, they were tied 13th in batting average last season with .270. Thats a little above average, definitely not what you would call big bats. Then Home Runs, they were 26th in the league with 157 home runs. 26th in the league, thats obviously not big bat, either. Then comes RBI time, they were 12th in the league with 761 RBIs, not big bat either. So to conclude, they are give or take average as far as batting goes, not really any big bats. They have Helton and Holliday, not really anyone else who can carry a team. Then comes the pitching, becasue of the high altitude in home games, any pitcher can tell you it's hard to throw. Then again, thats no excuse, since they play half of the season on the road, and they dont really get a disadvantage since the other team pitches in high altitude too in Colorado. Having said that, they are still 26th in the league in ERA with 4.66, a mediocore number, and fifth worst in saves, with 34. Thats not good nmber. Having said all that, I think the answer is just right there. Not good enough players and pitching.Of the four names mentioned, the only real big bat is Todd Helton.
The Rockies have always and will continue to have weak pitching since they can not have a decent pitching staff due to the thin air in Colorado.
It is extremely hard to throw a curve ball or a cutter in Coors Field.
