Why can't MLB schedule games better during the first two weeks of april?

Question:it happenz every year - rainoutz, blizzardz, extreme cold snapz, etc - but this year there were more in openin' week than i can remember. we have witnessed tha perennial yankee stadium rainout, four gamez - includin' two doubleheaderz - get snowed out in cleveland, and one game here in chicago vs minnesota on friday gettin' cancelled due 2 extreme cold.

more gamez need 2 b scheduled in warmer or enclosed venuez during tha first week or two of april - it'z just that simple. sponsorz need 2 suck it up and deal widdit. u can't generate revenue when there'z no game bein' played. further, tha probability that playerz will get hurt only increasez in weather like that - ask indians star catcher victor martinez.

so when will MLB get it right and make tha sched more viable?

Tell me the facts about albert pujols 1st home run as a cardinal where what stadium off what pitcher?

I agree with you 100%. I do not understand how Bud can not figure this one out. Instead of having northern teams play in the south for the first week, or at an indoor stadium, they schedule games in Chicago, Cleveland, and New York. What really gets to me is when they have two domed teams playing each other. Why not take advantage of those domes the first two weeks of the season? I guarantee teams would be in favor of this, because nobody likes to play baseball in freezing temperatures or having games can-celled this early. Another thing that gets to is the fact that teams have 2 or 3 days off during the first two weeks of the season. Why not give them those days off in August or September when they need them? Not in April when everyone is still fresh. Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought about the lack of common sense when it comes to scheduling.

Tampa Bay D-Rays Young Guns?

Because of the Spring Training and World Cup. But MLB is only a small sports, its not really a word game. LMAO~!

They'll get it right when they have a real commissioner.

What ledendary Cardinals star of the 1920's titled his book with "My War With Baseball'?

Let's paraphrase your idea in a slightly different manner: towns such as Cleveland and Chicago shall never host Opening Day festivities.

Opening Day is above and beyond any other day on the baseball calendar. Fireworks. Fighter jets flying overhead. The sign that summer is just around the corner. All teams even in the standings. Do you really want to tell fans of the Indians, Cubs, etc.: "sorry, but you can't ever take part in this"?

Opening Day is also a guaranteed sellout, even for low attendance clubs like the Royals. Owners of northern clubs would never agree to such a rule.

There is still a Home Opener for teams that begin the season on the road, but those just don't ever feel as exciting as the real Opening Day.

Who was Bobby Doerr?

I agree they should have more opening games in domes and where weather is guarenteed to be nice EVERY SINGLE DAY! well its only the beginning of the season so dont stretch it there are many amazing games to come.

Are the AZ Diamondbacks slowly working their way to the cellar, or can they still be a threat in the NL west?

yup it reall stupid. i mean i think they should just start the season later, i mean do you really need 162 game seasons? nope, start in mid may end in september, shorten the season and say goodbye to snow & cold outs.

In MLB drafts, what is a sandwich pick?

who knew that it was going to be snowing over Easter? if you had asked me (living in a southern suburb of Cleveland) after Christmas (had about .5 inches of snow in December) that is would be snowing now, i would have laughed in your face. the more ironic thing is that last week when the first game of the season was played it was almost 80 in C-town and if you say that the weather was involved in Martinez's injury then look at Joe Inglett also of the Indians. he had the same injury in spring training where I'm sure it wast cold at all. injuries happen no matter the temperature. pulling opening days out of the great lakes area would be wrong seeing that the games origin and hall of fame is about a 2 hour drive from Cleveland, in Cooperstown, New York

and by the way there is a spell check above the text box where you type your post in

Stl cardinals?

You would think they could come up with some way to have Detroit, Cleveland, Boston, Chicago, New York, etc play two series on the road in either domes or southern cities. It's not rocket science. However despite what Al Gore says, there's no guarantee the weather is going to be warmer next week either. April games up here are going to be cold.
The Seattle at Cleveland series made no sense though since this was to be the Mariners' only trip to Cleveland. Whoever plays against the Indians and the other teams in their home openers, should have another two or three game series scheduled later in the season in case there are make up games needed. That was wishful thinking on whoever concocted the Mariner/Indians series.

What does the name Jackie Robinson means to you?

there are 162 games to play it they don't start then that would be playing in december
