Baltimore Orioles Fans?

Question:I am fed up with Baltimore and their fairweather fans. For those of u who do not know, Baltimore has to be the largest fairweather fan city in the world, people refuse to listen to rebuild or that the team is improving. If the team is not a lock to be a playoff team, people will bicker and complain and not watch the games and claim they do not care. If the team is a playoff caliber team the whole city jumps on the bandwagon. This really frustrates me. Orioles fans unfairly use Angelos as a scapegoat. The team has had some quality offseasons for a medium-market team in Baltimore. I believe the reason we have been unsuccessful is poor minor league prospects. The orioles dealt away all of their players in the late 90s and never saw the prospects pan out. We have good youth in Loewen, Cabrera, Marakis, Penn. I really love the orioles and I think management tweaks problems such as the bullpen in this offseason. I would like to know everyone's thoughts on the Orioles & Angelos. No complaints

What kind of pants do Baseball umpire wear?

I'm not making any excuses for fairweather fans, but this isn't the first time the Orioles have suppousidly had "success" in a recent off-season that landed them Miggy Javy Lopez, Raffy Palmeiro, they also had Sammy Sosa. Two seasons later, the only guy left in that group is Tejada. The Orioles also had a big first half in 2005. They where in serious contention at the all-star break that year, look at where they ended up.

Angelos has spent many years towing company lines about the ballclub, and how it figures to get better. It wasn't UNTIL the signed Miguel Tejada, and decided that changes needed to be made in the coaching staff that this organization really even began to turn back into the right direction.

You can really only give people the same line so many times without the proof positive to back it up before they become skeptical about believing you. It's gotten to a point where fans staged an organized protest in Camden Yards last year during a game where the Orioles BEAT the Detroit Tigers in disapproval of the lack of success with the team under Angelos's ownership.

As a die-hard fan who has suffered through the same 9 seasons you have, and has gone to at least 5-6 games a year even when the club was decidely out of the race. Like you I see that the Orioles have made a lot of positive moves by hiring Sam Perlozzo manage the club and bring in his childhood friend Leo Mazzone.

I see that they brought in names that the DIE HARD baseball fan knows are good players like Ramone Hernandez, and Aubrey Huff who've had a huge impact on this team. The Orioles have addressed major issues in their bullpen, and so far it has been solid and steady (aside from the Arod grandslam).

The Orioles have the potential to surprise people, they hung with Minnesota well in two games (despite being swept), they could have easily swept the Yankees in the Bronx, and they beat Detroit today 6-2, Daniel Cabrera gave the club all most innings worth. WE as die-hard fans know what potential lies with this ballclub.

But with the other fans who have turned their heads away from the ballclub for being fed up with Angelos or whatever other reasons, you shouldn't be surprised when people in Baltimore, and around the area say "Oh, well the Orioles are just going to lose again. When was the last time they where a decent ballclub?"

The only thing I have to say to them though, is that maybe you're right, maybe not. Just don't tell me that when the Orioles find themselves playing in mid to late October again that you stuck with the team through the bad times all along.

MLB injury question please?

If the Orioles were improving, they would have traded Roberts and Penn for Giles and LaRoche. But i guess Angelos cant live without his favorite players!!

How do I make it rain on 2005 MVP baseball?

In baseball, is there a balk that sends the BATTER to first base?

Don't be so down on yourself. Remember, the baseball season is a 162 game stretch!

Lose one game, your fine, lose 7 in a row, your still in a playoff hunt! Lose a whole months worth of games, okay start to worry.

But remember, your in a pretty tough division competing with the Yankees, Red Sox, and possibly Blue Jays. It's HARD to find a playoff spot when you also have the Central Division hacking away and trying to take a wild card spot or so.

I don't know how old you are, but if your a teen like me (im 15) you still have 40-50 years to enjoy your Oriols.

What i don't want you or anyone to do is Bandwagon. I hate them!!

Just hope for the best, that's all I'm doing here in Minnesota.

I'm sorry if other Oriol fans are being dumb bandwagoners.
