Dude don't worry about speed, but if you are a fastball pitcher around 75-80. Use this changeup I'm about to tell you about (Johan Santana uses it); you grip the pitch like a 4-seam fastball but instead of 2 fingers you use 3, then when you throw it whip down hard with your wrist, and have the ball roll off your fingers. It will go 12-15 MPH slower with movement, and just throw it just like a fastball with the same form everything, it will also look like you are trying to throw a fast fastball because you whip down with your arm. If it doesn't work at first don't give up on it, it trakes awhile to get it good. How did the Twins choke so bad last year?
80 or more. but at 14 you still have time to get better. Will Jimmy Rollins hit more than 30 homeruns?
Are you crazy? No 14 year old should be pitching 80 mph. If you are then you are a freak, and will be a star someday. Your speed will always increase as long as you learn to pitch properly and lift weights. At your age you should be working on location, and developing a killer change up. Being able to change speeds, and spot your pitches will take you through high school baseball.Do the Red Sox have the pitching to go all the way?
DONT WORRY ABOUT SPEED!Look at Jamie Moyer. He has a good curveball and it makes him unhittable, even while throwing 80 mph. If you want a shot, you need to be able to hit your spots, create a good arsenal of pitches, and develop a good pitcher's mindset.
But if you want to worry about speed, you need to be throwing at least 60-65 to have a shot at getting past high school.
Is it true Curt Schilling had ketchup and ink on his sock and not blood?
65 or 70 tops, but you might throw your arm out like I did. Play a better position like catcher or shortstop. Trust me on this one.If you can hit in the 70's your doing great.
People don't realize how hard it is to throw a baseball in the 80-90 mph range.
