At Wrigley Field, what does the banner that says, "ACO 13,396" mean?
Question:I saw this watching a game. Not sure that's what is says exactly, but if you're a true Cubbie, you'll know what I mean.
Answers:
It should be read as AC 04 62 99.
AC = After Championship.
04 years since a division championship.
62 years since a National League championship.
99 years since a World Series championship.
Where can I buy a print of the blown call by umpire Don Denkinger in the 1985 World Series?
Not sure on that one.. did a little bit of research and found nothing exact...However the capacity in 1914 when the stadium was built was documented at 14,000, which could be 13,396 rounded up. So, with that, guessing AC standing for Approximate Capacity, and for the O (of?) I have no clue.
haha
just an off the wall thought.
good luck
Why do so many foriegn baseball players come from the Dominican Republic?
I'm from Chicago and I'm betting that's the number of games it's been since the Cubs have won a World Series title.If it is the number on a building across the street from the stadium, it actually isn't ONE number, but a combination of three (and I think you must have written them incorrectly).
One number is the number of years since a NL Pennant (62 years but it may say 61 since I don't know if they are already counting this year -- the last NL Pennant by the Cubs was 1945).
One number is years since either winning the division or since making the playoffs -- I can't remember (4 or again maybe they put a 3).
The last number is actually 99, as in if the Cubs don't win a World Series this year it will have been a 100 year drought.
I can't remember which number goes where except for the last one.
