I need help with my slow pitch softball bat swing!?
Question:I play in a men's recreational league and I have not been consistent at the plate this year. I have hit to the fence before and hit doubles and triples at times, but recently I will only have only 3-4 solid hits during a double header.
I'm in my 30's. I strength train twice a week during the season. My biggest weakness is a bad right knee and right quad. Both are always sore during the season.
I go to the batting cages twice a week, but recently it doesn't appear that the cage work is helping. My stance is shoulder width. My grip is pinky off the bat handle. I hold the bat at ear level. I use the same bats as the other guys on my team, so it's not the bat that's the problem.
Any suggestions?

When a reliever comes into the game.?
First of all forget the batting cage. Practice live with someone who can pitch you BP. Keep your back elbow parallel to the ground(ala Ken Griffy Jr.). This will level out your swing on high arcing balls. Keep your weight back for as long as possible. Do an exaggerated load(watch Sosa, or Sheffield) when the ball is halfway to you. When it's in the hitting zone, explode with your hips and legs. If you use all arms you will get no power. All your power comes from your tranfer of weight in a smooth, controlled motion. If you swing out of control you will hit embarassing dinkers to the pitcher every time. your objective should be to take off the pitchers head with a line drive everytime. Swinging for the fences is foolish. I average around .850 both my leagues with 0 homeruns. Anyone who tells you slowpitch is about trying to hit homeruns is a fool. A quick 20-40 pitches a day will vastly improve your game. Let me know how it works out.during off season you shuld still train, and you should train more than just twice a week.
But anyway isn ot becuz ur old or anything like that the only problem is probab ur stanze. my advice for u is to have some1 watch u as u batter up and swing and dis way they could tell u wat u r doin wrong this really helps cuz ur eyes on the ball n not on ur body {i do dis for my finace} also watch videos of many baseball player and learn from dem thats the way i learn and improve my softball skills
How is my fantasy baseball team in a 8 player pool?
Yes, a few, but just from a mom's view point. Watch the baseball players on TV. Grab that bat, grip it with all fingers, hold it up in the air behind your ear, point your right foot toward where you want to hit the ball (if you are right handed), stick your butt out, keep your eye on the ball and wail at it when it comes at you. Relax your body. Make sure you are well hydrated before and during the game. Good luck.More Questions & Answers...
