noNo, they use a luxury tax instead. Any teams over a certain amount have to pay MLB a certain percentage of the overshoot, depending on how habitual their big spending is. If a team goes over 2 or 3 years in a row, their taxation percentage goes up, and they pay a higher percentage than a team who is a first time offender.

There is no salary cap, but if a team spends over a cetain amount they are taxed and the money is given to smaller market teams.nope
