Who thinks Lou Pinella is doing a bad job here?
Question:The cubs should be a better team that their record shows. They have pretty good pitching and batting stats. The problem i see is in the outfield and baserunning. Lou's placement of players in the outfield (Alfonso in center, Jacque Jones in left for a few games and Murton in right for a few games) is horrible. His calls on bunting, hit and runs and general baserunning seem pretty bad as well.

What stadium built in the last 10 years should already be torn down?
i dont even know what to write here, especially about the person who said that the pitching is depleted and having to rely on guys who have a 2.09 and 2.82 ERA's. the main problem for pitching has been select members of the bullpen namely Ohman (who has done well recently) Eyre and Howry, howry of which is doing better as well. The problem with Lou is he is new. you cant blame him for not knowing what to expect out of certain players ect.
the main problem is luck, they are hitting the ball hard but they are finding other teams players. The wind blowing in at wrigley all the time doesnt help either. this team is built for power and take the 2nd San Diego game as a example. the cubs shouldve won that on either a home run by Derose or Lee but that depressing lake wind knocked the ball down.
Pinella has put Soriano in left and he looks a lot more comfortable there. it takes time to figure out a completely brand new team. Soriano afterall said he wanted to play center field and it didnt take long for things to change.
Its easy to say you dont like his play calling but if it works he is a genius, if not the goat. the cubs will be over 500 by next Friday
Can someone define to me what details as an earned run in baseball?
I don't think Lou is so bad as what he has to work with. He's a manager, not a magician. No one can polish a turd. What are A-Rod's chances at a triple crown?
I dont think its Lou. I think the Cubbies need to get their shite together. They play as individuals. They need someone to step up and take over as the leader to bring that team together. He hasn't done a bad job at all! The Cubs pitching staff is so depleted it is pathetic. When you have to rely on guys like Jason Marquis and Ted Lilly, you know that the staff is in trouble (at least they aren't as bad as the Cards or the Yanks!).
Baserunning problems haven't been his problem. Most of the baserunning errors I have seen from the Cubs have been just that, baserunning problems. It wasn't a problem with the calls from the dugout. One time, Ronny Cedeno overslid the bag on ball 4 (not Lou's fault). Cliff Lee stretching a double into a triple and getting pegged wasn't Lou's call ... that would be the third base coach.
As far as the lineup, there isn't a good configuration for the team. He wanted to get Soriano in CF since the team didn't have a CF ... it didn't work and he got him back to left. Floyd is a LF, so he will have to play in RF ... but that is where Jones is. So to play Soriano and Floyd, Jones will have to play center. Murton just shouldn't be in the mix for the team. He isn't the answer (thus the reason to sign Soriano). The 3 in the field I like best is Soriano in LF, Pie in CF and Jones/Floyd platoon in RF. Theriot is also getting good time in the OF, so he could play in CF if Pie doesn't learn to hit big league pitching.
Managers dont win and lose games very often. Lou has moved Soriano to left where he is more comfortable, Jones and Pie are doing a great job of splitting time in center, and Floyd and Murton are also doing well in right. The Cubs are a better team, the reason they have been losing is cause for the first part of the season, they were not getting very much production from Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Zambrano, two of their best players. Soriano seems to be hitting well now, and Zambrano always struggles in April. I mean if they start playing well, they could easily be right with Milwaukee for the division race.
How is MLB going to react about David Ortiz admitting to taking steroids.?
You need to give him time. Lou is a great manager. He won a World Series in Cincinnati, beating a great A's team, he took a team that had one .500 season in its history, Seattle, and helped take them deep into the playoffs, and he would have done the same with Tampa Bay if he didn't work with cheap ownership.Lou will do the job with the Cubs. He is playing with the lineup to see what fits best, it's his job to put the best team on the field and he will do that when he learns everyone's strengths and weaknesses. I don't think that his calls such as bunting and hit and run are bad, it's that the Cubs haven't been able to execute. It also doesn't help that the $136 million man, Soriano, hasn't done anything this season. One homer and three RBI's isn't cutting it.
Salaries of minor league baseball?
The Cubs definately have a problem with the outfield situation so I am not so sure what Lou is going to do with that. At the same time, the season is only 26 games in and it seems Lou is trying to find something that will work. He came in wanting to teach fundamentals. He won a World Series as a player for the Yankees. He won a World Series as a manager for the Reds, so he is quite capable to bringing the Cubs to the post season. Its still too early. What closer said this quote? "?
First off I'm a huge Cubs fan but I think that the team will come together. Soriano should not be leading off!! He should be batting second and in my opinion Pie should lead off. I know Pie stats are not the best but he will be a good player. The pitching staff has been good and the being a Cubs fan this is the type of season we are used to. I still feel Lou and the boy's will turn this around. I just glad Dusty is gone!Lou is afraid to offend players - so he has this rotation going in the outfield that is horrible. Also - he does not know what to do with Theriot, which is a shame since he might just be the best all around hitter on the team (or at least close to D. Lee). Lou needs to make a call and stick with it.
