Why have Soriano leadoff?Will the Cubs make the playoffs?
Question:I say Pie should leadoff and Soriano bat second. He is not a leadoff guy. He strikesout way too much and Pie is going to be a good player.

Pie is not showing enough flash to be a lead-off. You need to have a decent avg, and a good OBP and he has neither yet, due to the fact that he is a rookie and needs some experience.I think Theriot should be lead off. In his 2 starts(that ive seen) he has at least 3 hits both times, which is good so #2,#3,#4(meat of Cubs lineup) can drive him in.
As far as Soriano being lead-off, he did it before, for the Nationals, and look how bad they are struggling w/o him. Can you think of anyone else(other than pie and Theriot) that has speed and a keen eye for batting?
As a cubs fan. WE WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Believe.
we have recently taken 5/6 games, which is a huge turnaround. Cubs are like a diesel engine. Takes awhile to warm up, but they are efficient at optimal performance.
Soriano is fast and can steal bases..don;t think they will make the playoffs this year...pitching woes...

Soriano can bat anywhere in that line up and help his team. But he is fast and is part of the 40/40 club. The Cubs have a lot of confidence batting him lead off. His is the table setter. And the Cubs will not make the playoffs anytime soon. You still have the Cardinals and the Astros in that division.cubs wont make the playoffs
I will tell you why the Cubs have Soriano batting leadoff, because of last year with the Nationals when he hit 40+ homeruns. The cubs want to get that early 1-0 lead in the first inning but so far Soriano has not been doing that for them. Dont worry though, the manager will soon bat Soriano later in the lineup, most likely in the 2nd or 3rd spot, just to see if he gets back to that power he had last season. As for the Cubs making the playoffs, I think that will happen but wont make it far in the playoffs, its a little early to tell.

Hey Ken, it is actually a pretty STUPID idea to put a player that strikes out to much as the #2 hitter. Ask any major league manager and they will agree.Can anybody give me the names of all the yankees players that have restaraunts?
Pie will be a good player - but right now is not hitting enough to be a leadoff hitter. Also - they Cubs kinda promised Soriano that he would hit leadoff to get him to sign - so they will stick with it. Leading off is overrated anyway since most leadoff hitters only bat leading off an inning in the 1st anyway.How can I get White sox scores on Scoreboard?
