Is baseball the healthiest is ever been?

Question:except for steroids, and barry. Baseball seems to be having record attendance and t.v contracts for all teams and the yankees were the only team to lose money last year and that was reduced from two years ago from 50 million to 25 million. so are we entering baseball greatest stabilty in its history.and if that is so thats it mean that revenue sharing and a salary cap is not needed to be succesful. and for all they say baseball is boring because the yankees win all the time the best years and what is consider the golden age is the 1950's when the Yankees and the Dodgers played in the world series almost every year.

How dumb is MLB for scheduling warm weather team to travel north during the first week of April?

well said..I just wish the games could be played quicker..back in the day it took 2.5 hours maximum per game..now 3 to 3.5 hours is considered a normal length

Why do I suck so bad at baseball?

You are right. Now, this season, is the one of the best so far. Yes baseball can get boring real quick, especially if your team is out before the All-Star break. But even the players who are having a great year so far, will be looked at and eventually have that word looming over their heads--steroids. The performance enhancing testing in the MLB is slowly killing the game. Don't get me wrong, you have to test but having all those players and will continue with other players testing positive asks a lot of questions. Back in the day the only thing keeping anybody out of the hall of fame was betting. I know people who think Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame. But what about McGwire, Sosa, Bonds?? What happens to them when it's time to go to the hall? They all are great conribitors to the game especially when needed, and now they are nothing. I know that they can't prove anything, but Palmerio say it good "I did not take performance enhanching drugs." Next year he tested positive. That killed me, I'm an O's fan. But anyway, I'm just saying the game right now is off to a good start. But as my father always says "the game will never be played like it used to."

What exactly is a donruss prime patches baseball card?

I'm going to disagree. MLB is having better ratings and attendance, yes, but baseball itself is failing. Most baseball "Fans" across the country are not true baseball fans, but rather home town fans cheering for the local 9, if you took a poll of the attendees of any game with regard to any real knowledge of the sport you'd be amazed at how litte these fans even know about their own team. A night at the ballpark is more of a night out than a real desire to watch baseball. Also, the sports of Basketball and Hockey are failing to gain new interest therefore, baseball is the primary sports option currently available.

Youth baseball is especially failing. Kids are becoming less interested in baseball (especially in urban areas) because sports like Basketball and Lacrosse are becoming more interesting spring sports to them. Basketball is more appealing in urban areas where a court is easier to find than a baseball field, also, (I really hate to stereotype but...) the Alan Iverson type thug has replaced the Ken Griffey Jr's out there as the idols for inner city youth.

ESPN Outside the lines did a wonderful report on this earlier this year.

Which player holds the record for most strikeouts in a single playoff season? LOL?

Steroids is losing its grip on the game - just b/c investigators are dragging their feet until they find something doesn't mean steroids is dragging baseball down. If another big name comes up positive, then the black cloud will be bigger than ever, but I don't think it will happen in the major leagues.

I like that Bonds, Giambi, Sheffield (coming around), Howard, Pujols, etc are still putting up big #s, despite the constant scrutiny about the juice. It gives them some legitimacy amid all the allegations.

I'm a Twins fan, and I can't remember being this excited about the team - at least going back to the Puckett/Hrbek days. Even though the pitching staff is still trying to get it together (come on, Johan) I plan on going to half a dozen games this year and taking my 2 year old, too. It's just fun to watch.
