My son's starting PeeWee baseball this year...bats?
Question:He's 9, and I'm just not sure what size/weight bat to get him. Any ideas?

Look for one that is light. Baseball is much more about contact than power, and at that age he is better off with a lighter bat. I coacheda 9-10 year old team and once I got them a -11 bat (11 ounces less than number of inches) they hit much better than with the heavier bats they had been using. go to the sports store and ask! they ALWAYS knowdepending on his size he should use somewhere around a 27 to a 30...the stronger he is the bigger the bat...If possivle the team should have a few bat have him check them out at his firts practice and see what we likes...if not then if hes a small 9 yo go with the 27 medium 28 big 29 or 30

My son is the exact age and size that you describe your son to be:What you should look for in length: 28-29
Ounces: 16-18
The weight of the bat is determined on his strength. The ability to swing the bat consistently, with authority.
You might consider less length and more weight as a viable option.
