Fantasy baseball question?
Question:I'm last in my league in pitching, especially wins and WHIP. The waiver wire has Livan Hernandez, Noah Lowry, Kei Igawa, Kevin Millwood, Mark Burhele and Mark Mulder who I can hide on the DL. Should I take any of these guys?
Answers:
Chance of Mark Teixeira being a Yankee in a few years?
Lowry is your best bet from that group ... but it's still the first week.Watch the waiver wire for players added to the system ... Danks was just added this week (as was Micah Owings). Better prospects should follow mid-season (chief amongst them Adam Miller and Homer Bailey). Was Matt Garza dropped when he started the season in AAA? He's just a Silva-sized implosion from being called back up - and when he is, he's the real deal. He's better than anyone on your list. Is Clemens available or is someone already sitting on his mid-season arrival?
Don't grab just anyone yet ... take some time and watch emerging trends. First week numbers don't translate to a full season's worth of stats.
Should there be an New Jersey MLB team?
take mark muldertwo words, KEI IGAWA, NYY all the way
Is Sandy Koufax really coming back into baseball?
Maybe Lowry, middle releivers and closers keep your ERA and WHIP low, so pick up some good bullpen pitchers and good closers.Mark Mulder
What's the first thing someone would do to become a baseball umpire?
I would take Millwood. He pitched well in his last outing and he has a good lineup to give him great run support.Who do you think is the best MLB radio broadcaster?
Mulder is nowhere near what he was in Oakland so dismiss that right away. With what is left watch Noah Lowry but try and snag Livan Hernandez. The man has on and off years and last year was definitely an off year. This year he is already off to a 1-0 record in two starts with a 1.29 era. His numbers will obviously not stay that good but of those pitchers you listed he will have the best numbers come October.Look into Oliver Perez as well. You didn't list him but I'm willing to bet he is available in your league too. He is still young at 25 and despite being roughed up the last two years this kid did have over 240 strikeouts three year ago and with the Pirates for that matter. With the Mets hitting behind him look for his numbers to improve in almost every area.
Lowry is your best bet.
Best place to watch a baseball game?
I'd avoid Mulder. Even if he returns, he has been middling since he left Oakland and he won't be in top shape. I'd also approach Millwood with care because he plays in Texas, which tends to eat pitchers up. My top choice from your list right now is Livan, who in his first two starts looks poised for a rebound year. I expect the same from Buehrle, but he hasn't really had a chance to show it yet. Igawa falls in between - he's well-touted, but you have to worry about unproven pitchers in the AL East, where every team has a potent hitting lineup. Lowry's kind of all over the map: he could be great, as in 2005, or mediocre, like last year. He hasn't done it as consistently as Livan or Buehrle, so he's a bit more of a gamble.Lowry has the most potential of that group, but the Giants are struggling to score runs so far this season. I would also look for quality middle relievers and closers to get whip under control. Chasing wins can be a bad idea if you sacrifice WHIP and/or ERA for the sake of a few more wins.
Do starting Major League baseball catchers lift weights during the season?
Take Kevin Millwood. He is probably the safest pick. He did win 16 games last year. Just keep in mind that he pitches in a hitter friendly park and had a 4.52 ERA. Also, Buehrle could bounce back.Don't bother with Igawa, Mulder, or Livan.
