The Boston Red Sox trade Pitcher/Outfielder George Herman Ruth to the New York Yankees for Cash

In baseball, if u go 0-0 does your hitting streak stay aliive?

Phillies traded Rick Wise to the Cardinals for Steve Carlton. What in God's name could the Cardinals have been thinking?

What's the connection of baseball to chicago culture?

When the Cardinals traded pitcher Ernie Broglio to the Cubs for Lou Brock in 1964. In two and a half seasons with the Cubs, Broglio went 7-19 while Brock went from a mediocre player in Chicago to one of the greatest base stealers of all-time and a Hall of Famer.

What baseball team did Gene Richards play on in the lates 70's, early 80's?

How about Babe Ruth traded for a crappy musical?

To fullback51, I am NOT a Boston Red Sox fan so I am not dealing with any issues.
Ruth was sold to the Yankees so the owner of the Red Sox could fund a musical. If you have more intimate knowledge of a widely acknowledged fact, do tell.

The question on Albert Pujols if or when his bat gets hot where will he finish in home runs this year?

Twins getting Johan Santana back in 1999 from the Marlins for cash and someone nowhere near the majors right now.

Close 2nd - when the Twins traded AJ Prick-zynski a few years back to the Giants for Nathan, Liriano & Bonser. Just getting rid of AJ and seeing him suck (and get punched in the face in Chicago last year) made it the best ever.

What is the music that is played when Brandon Inge comes up to bat for the Detroit Tigers?

First off Babe Ruth wasnt traded to fund a musical, thats just what whinning Red Sox fans said to deal with the fact that their team has choked so many times in MLB history.

The worst overall trade had to be between the Orioles and Astros

Orioles got Glenn Davis

Astros got
Pete Harnisch.
Steve Finley
Curt Schilling

To make matters worse Davis got into a bar fight and had his jaw broken about a week after he got to Baltimore.

Who do you think will have a better record this season the Cubs or the Cardinals?

The Yankees aquiring The greatest baseball player of all time Babe Ruth, from the Boston Red Sox for $125,000 that was spent on a musical named "No, No Nanette" that bombed.

What is gernally considered the absolute worst trade (for one team at least, for the other it is then the best trade, like you asked for) in baseball history, at least when you see it brought up in discussion by "experts" is when the Reds traded Frank Robinson before the 66 season to the Orioles for pitcher Milt Pappas, pitcher Jack Baldschun and outfielder Dick Simpson. Pappas was something of an ace at the time, but never was the same in Cincy. Robinson was a future Hall of Famer, who had won ROY honors in 56 while hitting 38 HRs (a tie for the record by rookies at the time), and helped lead the team to the fall classic in 61 while winning league MVP. The Reds owner Bill DeWitt said Robinson was an old 30, but Robinson then won the triple crown in his first year with the O's, got league MVP, helped lead the O's to a Series win, and was named Series MVP. He also won the Hickok Belt as the top professional athlete of the year in any sport his first year in Baltimore. When he left the Reds after 65 at the age of 30, Robinson was their career leader in HRs, and is still their all time leader in slugging percentage. When he retired, his 586 HRs was good for 4th all time in HRs, behind Aaron, Ruth, and Mays, as well as a lifetime .294 batting average, 1812 runs batted in, and 2,943 hits in 2808 games played. His O's also won three straight pennants from 69-71, winning it all in 70.

While Ruth for cash is also a horrendus trade, and when Ruth left Boston he was good, but not necessarily great. When Robinson left Cincy, he was possibly the best player they had ever had, and he had only played half his career at age 30.

Does anyone know the timeframe for Derrik Lutz to move up to AAA-Louisville or to the Reds?

On August 31, 1990 the Boston Red Sox send a rookie AA third basemen to Houston for a 37 year old (past his prime) relief pitcher..

Of course, I'm speaking of Jeff Bagwell for Larry Andersen. The rest as they say is history. Andersen faded into obscurity and Bagwell turned out to be arguably the best first baseman in the National League during his prime years. What a steal for Houston.

Why doesn't MLB allow ONLY aluminum bats to be used? The wooden bats are VERY dangerious when they splinter...

The best ever? Seriously, it has to be the Red Sox trading babe ruth for cash. You can call it selling him if you want, but goddamn that was stupid.

I found a heavy orange yellow ball the size of a baseball , very smooth. .?

The Boston Red Sox trade Pitcher/Outfielder George Herman Ruth to the New York Yankees for Cash th red sox got screwed

Pitching Slump?

1. Joe Foy for Amos Otis
2. Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas
3. Rocky Colavito for harvey Kuenn

Who is the best pitcher of all time? Who is the first basemen of all time?

The best trade ever was Babe Ruth for $125,000. The Yankees didn't give up a single drop of talent and got the best baseball player ever. Ruth is the only player to ever hold the single season homeruns record and the all time homeruns record(Until Barry and Steroids break the record). He often had more homers than most whole teams in the league. Yankee Stadium is known as the House Ruth built for good reason. Until he came the Yanks had no Championships. He helped them get their first few and now they have 26.
