Any San Diego Padres Fans out there? Answer me this...?
In 1944, Charley Barrett of the Boston Braves threw only FIFTY-EIGHT pitches during a nine inning complete game. He shutout the Reds 2 - 0 and the game set a major league record for least number of pitches thrown by a single pitcher in a complete game. Also:
In 1926, Dutch Levsen threw two complete games in one day in a double header. He won the first game 6-1 and the second 5-1. Urban Shocker also did this but he gave up four runs in a day instead of two.
After the first few weeks, which NL and AL teams look more World Series material?
I don't think Dock Ellis did that. Some other guy said Bill Lee did it, too, which is major bullsh*t.Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series is the greatest pitching feat of all time. He retired 27 straight hitters on a great team under the brightest spotlight in sports at that time. It hadn't happened before, it hasn't happened since.
