Barry Bonds Legacy?

Question:What do you think barry bonds legacy will be (not should be)?
keep in mind that even though he may have cheated, he's no exception, matter of fact he's far from it, also do you think he's the best baseball player of this generation?

One more Bonus thought, how many homeruns did Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, and Willy Mays hit off of pitchers who used steroids?

Answers:

Best offensive combo?

To me, Barry Bonds will always be the five tool threat he was with the Pittsburgh Pirates. I do not believe in "guilty until proven innocent", so I will not bash him. The legacy? Barry Bonds is the greatest player of his generation, steroids or not.

Barry Bonds will never be recognized as the best becuase of the steriods questions and you all know it..

Where can i see a cubs game from 05/04/07?

I think over time he will be forgiven because it seems like alot more players are going to start getting caught up in the "steroid cloud". How many pitchers were using steroids will come in to play. It will be known as the era with small stadiums and roids sort of like the pre jackie robinson era. players werent really faulted for playing in an all white league.

Is Bonds redeaming himself?

The drug issue will damage his lagacy.

A-Rod on steroids!!!?

His legacy will be that of a cheater! At least when Pete Rose broke the hit record he did it legitimately! Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 573 Home Run last night tying him for 8th place on the all time list and I KNOW he did it honestly! Pretty evident looking at him! Out of all the home run hitters in this era Jr. is the only one without steroid questions asked about him!

Will the astros win the next 4 games??

I think his legacy will be tainted, but less so if he makes an admission of what he used and when. Since most supplements were allowed, he's got nothing to lose and everything to gain. He was a good player who might well have approached or even broken Aaron's record regardless. If he continues the questionable denials, his reputation will suffer, and there will be controversy regarding any records he holds.

As you point out, others have tested positive or made later admissions. There's a risk that baseball itself will be seen as a "tainted" sport, with most records from the 80s on viewed with suspicion.

Witness the cloud of suspicion that Lance Armstrong has come under as more and more cyclists are "outed" as users of performance-enhancing drugs. What might save Armstrong is surviving cancer (it's too good a story to throw away entirely). Bonds doesn't have that "luxury."

Who hit two grand slams in the same week, in the same ball park but on different teams.?

Among those who love the game Bonds will always be a pariah and his victory will be a Pyrrhic one
The tragedy of Bonds is that he didn't need steroids to get in the Hall of Fame and now because he used them he will never get in.

Who is the one team that has your favorite team's number?

Deceit is not a legacy. Being a lousy friend (ask Greg Anderson, once you've signed the visitor's log, of course) is not a legacy. Arrogance is not a legacy.

Anabolic steroids were developed in the early1970's, and that was for legitimate medical use. Ruth and Mays never encountered anyone using them, and Aaron retired after the '76 season, so he and his contemporaries would have had little or no exposure to them either. Get your facts straight so that you avoid sullying other people's reputations inthe future..

When will the Giants start hitting the ball and scoring runs!!!?

Sigh another thread on Bonds -- steroids -- and his legacy.
Bonds is a great player no matter what, take away 200 homers due to steroid use...fine, he's still the only player with 500 homers and 500 steals for a career (he already is the only player with 400-400). Let's go through some points about steroids...
1. Steroids help you hit the ball farther, fine -- yes, all good and dandy -- but it doesn't help you hit the damn ball. Only talent can help you react and make contact with a pitch and hit it just right to get a solid hit.
2. Steroids have been around since the early 1920s, what's to say no one back then used them. (Someone earlier said Griffey's 573rd homer was perfectly legit because "HE KNOWS" Griffey didn't take them)
3. Players used steroids to help them recover from injuries faster, once they were banned players couldn't recover fast enough...look at Jeff Bagwell, since steroids were banned he never recovered from his shoulder injury.
4. Players left and right tested positive for steroids (Juan Rincon, Alex Sanchez, Rafael Palmeiro), the spotlight was on them for 2 days at most then suddenly back to Bonds, who, according to Bud Selig has never failed a random drug test.
5. Ok fine, Bonds admitted to using the cream and clear, but so have other players and yet Bonds seems to be the one everyone blames for it -- like it was because of Bonds all these other players took them...GO MEDIA!!
6. Bonds is one of the greatest players of our generation and should be embraced. Steroids or not you won't see many players hitting 755 homers (maybe ARod and Pujols), but it is a rare feat and should not be shunned.

Does anyone have 7 digit upper deck codes?

Barry's legacy will be that of a cheater. The public outside of San Francisco believes he cheated, and whether he actually did or not isn't the issue. The public rarely lets go of its perceptions.

As far as the pitchers, I'm not convinced roided up pitchers were able to throw up better numbers. Billy Wagner is about 170 soaking wet and he runs it up there pretty good. His 100 mph fastball is not as common, but he still slings it. Did he use performance enhancing drugs? No one has made that contention. Look, say a pitcher does juice up and it adds 5-10 mph to his fastball. It won't help his curve break more. It won't keep his slider under control. We've all seen that an 85 mph fastball can get guys out for a guy like Jamie Moyer. And we've all seen 98 mph fastballs go over the fence. Steroids may make a guy a harder thrower, but I don't think it makes him a better pitcher. On the other hand, 5-10 mph of addition batspeed can turn warning track power into Sammy Sosa.

And besides, let's assume all of the pitchers were juiced up, too. It doesn't make Barry right. It doesn't mean the record is legit. It just means the pitchers are as bad as Barry. And that's pretty bad.

Daisuke is playing tomorrow. How do u think he'll go?

His legacy can be summed up in one word..."Cheater".
