Is the downfall of the yankees the fault of steinbrenner? or the GM, CASHMAN?
Question:FOR NOT!! spending money on a top flight pitcher! the yanks did nothing to improve in offseason and now are paying the price for their outrageous salaries! it will be years now before they can shell out the big money because the organization is losing money!! who is more at fault? or maybe even the stupid fans who continue to pay the high ticket prices?

Whats the record for all-time RBI and season RBI?
None. I think Cashman had a great offseason. Even if the Yankees don't make the playoffs this year, it's fine because Cashman definetly made great moves. First, he got rid of struggling, old, injury prone Randy Johnson and got rubber arm Vizcaino (he'll pitch better) and a top pitching prospect and really got the better of the Sheffield trade by getting one of Detriots best pitching prospects Humberto Sanchez. Even if they don't make it, next year they certainely will and go really far. Also, it's early in the season. You should be happy cashman didn't dish out another Pavano-like contract and with the Yankees luck it probably would have had the same results. Don't forget, every year the injury bug bites, top prospects are called upon and do the job, Steinbrenner threatens to fire Torre, and it doesn't happen. Remeber last offseason when everyone said Pinella would be the new manager. And, the Yankees had a slow start last year tooWhich Canadian ballplayer dominated the sport in 1887?
Pitching is their down fall. Who cares as long as they keep losing! Can anyone find me a video of the yankee pitcher getting hit in the knee from tonights game ?
yeaDoes anyone know a website that has pictures from sections at a stadium?
Neither. It deals with the lack of love for the game. A Yankee making 50K every time they swing the bat doesn't love baseball. They love money.I don't understand why people consider Derek jeter a future HOF?
haha...finally the overspenders have nothing to show for it! i think they're just an "old" team with no young talent that are being paid waaaay too much. What kind of wood is used in creating a baseball bat?
it is all their faults, they are to focused on the big picture and have no near sighted goals and don't know how to produce pitchers.Atlanta Braves only lost one game right?
The fans are at no Fault here, Steinbrenner, and the GM. George puts to much pressure to Sign or trade for the big Name. Too many big names on one team is not always the best. Look at the Lakers when they lost to the Pistons in the NBA championship. They had 4 future hall of famers and they didn't win it all. The yankees have the money to get anyone they want but The American League is all about the homerun. I don't like the Yankees because they don't bring up young guys always trading away yound talent. That would be the GM fault. Torre is also at fault here. He is coaching the team of all stars to one of the worst records in the MLB. When a team like the Yankees are having a bad year like this The Owner, GM, and Manger are at Equal Fault. But you can't fire an Owner.Who should I support, the Mets or the Yankees? To the most persuasive argument go the spoils ;)?
What downfall? Be patient. Two months ago everyone was praising Cashman for the moves he made, especially with the pitching staff; and George, for giving Cashman more lattitude.I agree that $185 mil is alot of money to spend on a last place team. But, last time I checked it was May 3rd, there's a long way to go. Injuries happen, guys have slow starts and sometime things just suck and happen for no reason ( get well soon, Phil Hughes & Jeff Karstens) Nobody needs to panic just yet. Lets hang in there & see what happens. Go Yanks!
Good place for softball uniform team patches?
its the players who are hurt. perhaps the trainer who trained them. thats why he was fired.4 hamstring injuries cant be a coincidence
Easy question, Steinbrenner. Cashman didn't want Sheilfied, Steinbrenner did. Cashman didn't want R. Johnston, Steinbrenner did. Steinbrenner always wants the old players and pays way to much for them.
Jeze, lots of typical Yankee hater envy answers in here... as usual. Downfall? I guess u didn't see the game Tue. when they blew out the Rangers 10-1. No buddy, they're getting it together now, just watch.
When Barry Bonds is on the verge of breaking the home run record, what do you think might happen?
first of all, i wouldn't say that they are in a downfall yet.secondly, if you want to argue that they are (and i can see where you guys are coming from), it is because of nothing else than quite simply bad luck. Their pitchers are getting injured left and right. I'd like to see any team be above .500 if their pitchers were getting injured like that. The Yankees are a legit team at worst, and I think they'll make up for lost ground once everyone's healthy.
As far as your claim about not signing a top flight pitcher: they were about 2 "top flight pitchers" available: Matsuzaka and Zito.
1. Matsuzaka was untested in America, and the Red Sox basically made an offer that the Yankees weren't comfortable with. I would never pay $100 million dollars solely to negotiate a contract with anyone.
2. The Yankees never stood a chance with Zito. Too many teams were bidding for him.
If a ball bounces then hits the batter is it a hit by pitch?
The down-fall of the Yanks lys with the pitching. So the pitching coach should be fired. How do the MLB managersend their intructions to the players?
None of the above. Even though I am a Yankee-hater, I have to admit that they have been beset by injuries, particularly to their starting pitchers. It is way too early to bury them just yet.Downfall?? What Downfall? The only downfall we had was hiring a trainer,With no baseball training Experience!! that was our only downfall! We have a great pitching staff on our farm, nice young arms!! look at what phil huges did the other night! If we Bought Zito for 100mil then everyone would be saying,,(oh look the sankees are trying to buy a word series)
We're damed if we do and we're damed if we don't!!
Why is it that Matsuzaka never gets any run support?
You need to relax, my friend. I would hardly call a slow start a "downfall".First you have to understand that they are trying to lower the payroll. After this season the contracts of Abreu, Rivera, Posada, Pettitte (he has an option for next season) are up, and A-Rod can opt out. Those guys will either not be back, or be signed at lower salaries. Also Giambi's contract is up after next season. The payroll will go down. No one knows for sure if the Yankees are losing money or not, they claim to be, but others in baseball say that's not true.
You mention that they didn't spend money on a top flight pitcher, but what top flight pitchers were out there? Zito? Schmidt? Should they have signed someone like Pavano, who has been a disaster? What Cashman did was unload aging Randy Johnson, and bust Jaret Wright for prospects, who can either contribute to the Yankees or be used in trades.
It will not take years to "shell out the big money". The Yankees have more money to spend than any team, and they didn't do anything stupid last offseason like Houston did with Carlos Lee, and the Cubs did with Soriano. Don't forget that a new stadium is opening in 2009 which will bring in MAJOR revenue. They also have the YES Network, and sell the most merchandise of any MLB team, money will not be a problem The Yankees will have a younger team when they move in there, with Hughes leading the rotation. Of course the ticket prices are ridiculous, but the Yankees had attendance of over 4 MILLION people the last two years, so people will still pay to see the Yanks!
Just sit back and enjoy the season, the Yanks will be on a roll soon!
What is your favorite song for a hitter before they come up to bat?
I think its the fault of CashmanWhat team did detroit beat to get in the world series.?
What downfall of the Yankees? It's only May. If the playoffs started today, sure the Yanks would be out of it. And, if the playoffs started today, then the schedule makers would have really screwed up -- because it's only May.When August rolls around and the Yanks are 10 games out, then it will be time to talk about their failures.
