I won't take anything away from Martin Luther King, but I think Jackie Robinson paved the way for him and...?

Question:probably went through so much more than King did. What do you think?

Since 2000 who has had the best MLB team?

They both did great things. Its hard to beat MLK when it comes to being a civil rights or human rights leader. MLK stood for everyone and everybody, not just people of African desent. Jackie Robinson broke the baseball color barrier and that was amazingly important for the game. It helped unseperate great players and make professional baseball truly the best players in the world.

In baseball, what is the difference between an RBI and a Run scored?

Well thats hows everything worked. Everybody paved the way for everybody back then. Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, King, Robinson, Charles Drew. Why do it really matter? The whole point was for equal rights, not just for blacks for all other minorities at the time.

Which Red Sox starter will garner the most wins in '07?

Two things wrong with your premise:

1. Pave the way for King HOW? What way did he pave? What did Martin Luther King have that he got as a result of what Jackie Robinson did? Marching for civil rights wasn't a JOB he got paid for and wouldnt have if it wasn't for Jackie Robinson. Nobody got fairness in housing or were allowed to attend any school they wanted because Jackie Robinson stole. Don't get me wrong, Jackie was great and made it possible for blacks to participate in professional baseball, but King did much more for blacks as a whole.

As for going through more than King, Jackie Robinson wasn't beat up by cops, arrested, thrown in jail, etc. Sure he received death threats, but King did too, and more.

It's apples and oranges. You can't compare what they did.

What's the best Yankees fan forum?

As a Civil Rights leader you can't beat Martil Luther King Jr. but you can realize that King knew of Jackie and that a lot of the passive resistance demonstrated by King was modeled by Robinson's behavior in his early baseball years. In addition, on the spring training trip from Florida to Brooklyn, the Dodgers spent a night in Atlanta. Jackie could not stay in a decent hotel so he was invited to stay in the home of a prominent African American clergyman, Martin Luther King Sr. What kind of effect would that have on a teenager?
Thanks to both Jackie Robinson and each Martin Luther King. They were both the greatest.
