ok the most important thing here is to just RELAX... you can know all the fundamentals, and be tense and still not hit the ball. when i'm at the plate i have a very loose grip on the bat and tighten up right before i hit the ball. when i hold the bat loosely it helps me relax and not get all tense. when i hold the bat, i line up my middle knuckles so if you held the bat straight out or down to the ground it would almost be like holding a golf club. keep a loose grip on the bat. your feet should be about shoulder width apart with the knees slightly bent. when the pitcher starts taking the ball out of their glove or is getting ready to throw the ball you want to start your load. the load is where you take a slight step back with your front foot just to get your weight on your back leg. now when you step to swing you want to step exactly or maybe just a slight bit infront of where you started. you dont want to take too big of a step forward because when all your weight is on your front foot its hard to do anything with the ball. as far as your hands go, take your hands with the knuckles still aligned and take them straight to the ball, you dont want to drop your hands or your back shoulder when you swing becasue that will result in a lazy pop up, so take your hands straight to the ball. when you swing keep your front shoulder square, you dont want to "open up" becasue when your front shouolder flies open and you pull off of the ball, guess what, your head goes with it and you cant hit the ball unless you can see it, right. so try to keep that shoulder square, and just drive straight through the ball and take off. if you have any more questions about anything email me at red_sox_kid_045@yahoo.comhope everything helped take care and good luck!

Why do Dodger fans leave early from the stadium during a game?
There are a number of ways to do this, depending on the situation. I'll give you the most effective. Feet should be parallel to the shoulders. Your knees are slightly bent, with your hips tucked in. No bending at the waist with your butt in the air. Elbow is cocked (45 degree angle ) with your hands up around your shoulders. If you keep your elbow at a 45 degree angle it will force your hands away from your body. Your hands should be lined up at the knuckles, gripping the bat about 1-2 inches from the bottom knob. Now here's the tricky part...hold the bat parallel to the ground, so when you swing, it's almost like a chopping a log with an axe. When you swing, take a step forward and open everything up to the mound. By keeping the bat parallel it will force you to swing level and even, thereby hitting line drives. Good Luck. The answers you've gotten so far are right on, but I'd still suggest you approach your coach and tell her that you'd like some guidance. If the coach insists on being stubborn, I'm sure your teammates would gladly work with you. Both your teammates and your coach want to win, and this ought to be enough. Also, you may find that stepping into the ball/shifting your weight, as described above, will have you getting under the ball too much until you've worked with it enough, so you may want to use it in moderation to start. Not being ready for the pitch can also give you some unorthodox hacks at the ball. Many players keep some part of them in motion until the last moment. Derek Jeter does a stutter step before address, Coco Crisp wiggles the fingers on his trailing hand, Gary Sheffield waves the bat back and forth. If you watch a couple games you'll find that few players remain still at the plate. Lastly, this may sound foolish but try to develop a pre-swing motion or ritual before stepping to the plate as it helps much more than you'd think.
