Question:Who currently is better the Mets or the Yankees. I think its the mets but that just because they have won much more games this season. Please explain why you think that this is the better team.

Yankees.The Yankees are still the team that any other is measured against. Just because they are starting off slow does not mean there entire season will be this way. They are too solid for that.

Recordwise, the mets are much better. But in the long run, the Yankees will be better. They started out like this last year, going 11-19, and then finished strong to capture their 9th consecutive AL East title, not to mention a 5 game sweep of the Boston Red Sox. i would have to say the mets at this point. Don't get me wrong, the yankees WILL come around eventually but due to runs scored and the mets phenomonal hitting, i'd have to go with the Metropolitans on this one. Yankees all the way. Even though the Mets have a better record right now, the Yankees will comeback and become one of the best (again). They started out terrible last year, but came back to win the pennant. I'm sure they will this year too. The reason why they are losing is become ALL of their pitchers are injured. Mussina, Pavano, Karstens, and Hughes. Mets are doing well, but I believe that last year was their year. Now they are just a team that dominates the NL and would win in the playoffs. Yankees on the other hand, with all their terrific hitting and impressive pitching (once everyone is not injured), will comeback and win it all! I love the Red Sox fan that so needs to be heard that they respond to a question about the Mets and Yankees. Red Sox fans can start making comments about the Yankees when they win 26 rings. You never heard from them till they win for the first time in over 80 years and all of a sudden they are the best of all time. You couldn't ever repeat and haven't been back to the World Series since. So Till you have 26 rings or have at least made it the the Series back to back (win or lose) you cannot make an argument so stop trying. As far as Mets or Yankees, I would say right now I think they are about even (this season). The Yankees are of to a slow start and have had many starters on the DL so we will see how the season unfolds. Given the number of injuries and the fact that they have been in most of the games they lost because of the lineup I have to give them the edge. The Mets do have a good starting 5 and a good bullpen but a few of the starters aren't proven. They also have a good lineup but I don't feels it's as solid as the Yankees. On paper its the Yankees, but so far on the field the Mets have been a lot better. Injuries have a lot to do with it, but its not the whole story. The Yankees have a lot of great names on their team, but that doesn't always equal good results. Even with A-Rod playing out of his mind they were still struggling to stay at .500. With Clemens on board and the other starters on their way back the rotation is looking better every day. With that being said I think I would still take a healthy Mets staff over the Yankees. When it comes to hitting the Mets are the only team in baseball who really compare favorably to the Yankees. They are winning with two of their best players (wright and Delgado) coming out of the gate slowly. They keep winning with their pitching and the depth of the lineup. At this point the Mets are a better team, but don't be too quick to write off the Yankees. As much as I hate to say this, a Subway series is a real possibility again this year...Will A-Rod Break the All-Time HR Record (Injury Free)?
I believe the Yankees are still ht better team. However, it's a very close call. Tom Glavine and Mike Mussina can just about even each other out. Same goes for Giambi and Delgado, Jeter and Reyes, Posada and Lo Duca, and Green / Alou / Beltran as compared to Matsui / Abreu / Damon. But though David Wright is a great player, A Rod is just phenomenal this year. And Cano and Mientkiewicz are far better than Jose Valentin and whoever else the Mets have. The rest of the pitching staffs are hard to tell since each teams staff changes day to day, but with the acquisition of Roger Clemens, that can only help the Yankees case. And neither closer is as good as they have been, but the slight edge will go to Wagner this year. So all in all, I'd have to say that the Yankees are still the better team.i say mets because they dont have a big name at every position but all their positions are very well.
