I am a Yankees fan, but I can respect that Boston has fielded some great teams as well. I'm sick of hearing about how their pockets are deep and that's why they win. There are several other teams that have the ability to do what the Yankees and Red Sox do, they just choose not to. As a Yankees fan, I'm glad that the organization is committed to winning and keeping their fans happy. I'm sure the Red Sox fans feel the same way.So, to answer the question, it's actually pretty easy for me to state why the Sox are a good team. They have, when healthy, a dominant lineup. No other pair in baseball is as feared as Ramirez/Ortiz. Trust me, as a Yankees fan I cringe every time either comes to the plate. Francona is an effective manager who is very strategic. Their pitching staff can be great, but face aging and inexperience and injuries issues, just like most teams. Papelbon back in the bullpen gives them a quality closer. They also have chemistry issues. Manny's lackadaisical approach to the game causes problems for that team.
Having said that, it's going to be one hell of a race in the East this year.

they are great because they were one of the 2 first teams to made in the MLB. They also have buckets and buckets and buckets of money to buy players from japan and trade players. so when u have money that you can buy anyone it's pretty hard to compete with them, but theYankees problem: is that they got to many all-stars on the team so everyone wants to be a leader and no one wants to listen
