Since there is an owner as commissioner, should the next one be a player?
Question:Bud Selig still owned the Brewers when he took office. Don't you think it would only be fair that someone like Frank Thomas, or Julio Franco, or some player about to retire take over?

If they had the know how to do so more power to them, but acting as commissioner ought to be left up to those who not only understand the game but understand the legal process, business, marketing and other things you probably should have gone to school for. Doesn't sound like a good idea even if it were possible. The players union is one of the biggest problems in baseball right now, in my opinion. Obviously an active player wouldn't have the time to be a commissioner and appointing a player to be commissioner would be about as smart as making an inmate warden of a prison system.More Questions & Answers...
