Josh Hancock killing himself last week drinking and driving is a big loss for them because their relief pitching was weakened with the promotion of Braden Looper and Adam Wainright to starters. Plus Carpenter is injured and Mulder is recovering from shoulder surgery.
Right now they're at the bottom of the NL Central, and the top two teams each have a starter from St Louis last year - Milwaukee (Suppan) and Chicago (Marquis).

Hell no, their starting rotation has been depleted. they lost Suppan, Weaver, Willliams among others and pitching wins games.Too early to tell. I do know they will get hot and start playing some good ball. Look at last year they started hot and then got really cold at the end of the year, and then got hot during playoff time. They have a good team, look at Albert he is cold right now he will heat up. Last year when he cooled off so did the cards, when he plays good they play good.

The Cardinals lost on the last day of the season, but so did St. Louis, so the Cardinals backed in, and then got lucky against the Tigers, who had not played in a week.The Cardinals pitching is weak, Pujols is off to a slow start for him, and now Carpenter is gone for three months. It's not going to happen this season, the Central is much stronger, the Cards are not.
