I'm not a Red Sox fan, and I'm not sure I would call Dice-K a bust yet, but he's clearly very overrated. He was just supposed to burst onto the scene and dominate, the way Valenzuela did in '91, Gooden in '84, and Nomo in '95. Now reading the stuff from Red Sox fans, he "just needs a little more experience", or "Once he gets used to being in the States", he will be great. The Red Sox paid $103 million for him to be great now, not to learn on the job. Thankfully for him, he faced the Yankees when they were down, as he sucked against them and lucked into two wins (10 runs in 13 innings). He's 3-2, but could easily be 1-4. Can you say OVERRATED. Jeter wasnt a bust in his first season. He was .314 10HR 78RBI far from bust( and proved to be clutch ). A better example would be Hideki Irabu. Im a Yankees fan that watched Dice-K pitch in Japan for 3 years so I will answer this one.He was awesome in Japan for the Seibu Lions everytime he pitched the game sold out. (which in Japan when they sell capacity they dont stop selling tickets they just pack people in the stadium...I guess they have no fire codes) I always thought he would do "good" in the Big Leagues but, not great. He gets down on himself after a bad outting and it effects him. As far as him turning it around I think he will. He will win 15 games this year and his Era will hover around 3.5 but, I definetly do not think he is worth the price tag. They could have gotten 2 really good pitchers for that price.
But, I guess time will tell. I would like to see him do well though. (but let his bullpen blow it for him because I am a Yankees fan lol)

I wouldn't be talking your team is in last.Dice-K has the best changeup I've seen since Trevor Hoffman, and the rest of his stuff is still good. He knows how to pitch it's just adjusting to Major League Hitting.

It's a bit early to call him a bust. Yes, his last two games were rough. The first 4 games showed that he can be a dominant pitcher. After all, 2 of his wins were against the Yankees. Right now, he had adjustments he has to make. He's in a different league, country, culture and team. There is also the language barrier that will get easier to cross over time. He also needs to have more control on his pitches. The Red Sox pitching coach and Varitek is doing a great job with their pitchers this year. Just look at Okajima and Beckett!
