Softball Question?

Question:Hello all:
I used to be an allstar baseball catcher, but I haven't played ball in several years...my friends signed me up to play catcher for their softball team (thinking oh he used to be great!)...I agreed without really thinking.
I know im going to stretch really well before tonights first practice but im fearful that i'll stink up the place.
any advice?

Why can't you lick your fingers when on the mound pitching?

Don't take it anywhere near as seriously as baseball. The catcher usually just stands well behind the plate (doesn't squat) in most leagues. You'll notice the big difference in batting. If you've never played slow pitch before, be prepared to strike out at first and laugh at yourself. It takes a few at-bats to get used to the speed (or lack of speed) of the pitch. Wait a second longer than you think you should to swing.

Do you think that the Baltimore Orioles have a chance to have a winning season this year?

you will be fine..it very low key...it actually easier for you cuz there is no stealing in softball.but a little advise if you have a good arm....you cant steal but you can lead once the pitcher realeases the ball..so sometimes you can catch the runner sleeping at first..but you have to be quick...good luck
