Since Carl Pavano is gonna be out for the whole year due to surgery should the yanks make a trade?

Question:In my opinion i think the yanks should wait to see if Roger Clemens comes back even though 2 teams are trying to get him but if they don't get Clemens i think we should trade for Willis because we need to compete with the redsox rotation. If the yanks get a good rotation in the 2nd half of the season i still think they can win the east but not the world series.

The Yankees needed starting pitching before the season ever began. Now those shortcomings have been magnified by injuries. Thinking anyone on that staff beyond Mussina and Petitte (both of whom age and injuries make a real concern) was a lock was shortsighted. Wang had a good year in '06, but he's hardly a savior. Righthanded starters who barely average 3 strikeouts per 9 innings fade away quickly. Pavano has had one, count it ONE, good season in a ten year career plagued by inconsistent performance, a fragile body and questionable competitive desire. Igawa was totally unproven. Hughes needed seasoning which, to their credit, the Yankees realized by targeting him for the minors this year. Karstens and the rest are simply journeymen.

I'm sure Cashman has been trying to get starting pitching for a long time. There's not much available out there without paying a very steep price. To suggest they could easily trade for Willis (or any other good starter) is not realistic. The Yankees are in a tough spot. They better hope their bats can carry them.

How many balls, on average, are used in a Major League Baseball game?

The Yankees really need pitching and they should be looking every where.

Was Sandy Koufax the most dominating pitcher of all time?

And what kind of package would it take to get Willis? It would have to be something like "We'll give you our entire farm system for him"

I don't see that as realistic. We should see them trying to pick up somebody in the last year of a contract. But that won't happen till around the all star game.

Which team will win in baseball this year?

no matter how bad the situation that the yankees are in they will bounce back, come on its the yankees and this is coming from a hard core cubs fan who likes the mets lol. But it wont be easy. They should definitly sign clemens if they want any chance to win there division. The onyl problem i have with clemens is why wait untill like the middle of the season to play and then ask for 16,000,000 for only like 15 games?

Which player, other than Albert Pujols, has a good shot at winning a Triple Crown in the future?

Phil Hughes looked pretty solid, and the injury is a blessing in disguise, because being out for a month will force them to limit his innings. Which is good.

If Igawa gets his act together, I really don't think we need any help.

I mean, by June, we'll be running a rotation of Wang, Mussina, Pettitte, and Hughes, with the fifth spot being tossed up amongst Rasner, Igawa, DeSalvo and Tyler Clippard.

I don't think we need Roger Clemens, nor do I want that 45 year old nomad. He's really only good for 5 innings at this point in his career anyway.

Carlos Zambrano is likely to be dealt at the break if the Cubbies aren't sitting in first place, too... so that's worth watching.

Top 100 home run hitters in mlb?

Just because the Yankees have money - that does not help them very much right now in the trade department. They only have a handful of players that would get a decent return in a trade - and I doubt that they want to let these players go. Years of trading to get top players have left their farm system lacking in top talent.
So it should be a problem for New York to go and just get a pitcher. You cannot just go and get a top pitcher. It does not work like that.

Cubs suspension?

YEA!!!!

What position would you say is the hardest to win a gold glove at?

Clemens is back now, but even without him a trade wasn't a nescessity. They were just decimated by injuries since they all went down at once. If they could get Dontrelle that would still be a good deal to make. The kid would thrive in New York, but I don't know what the Yankees really have to offer to get him. They don't want to trade from the big league roster and the minors don't have any great prospects right now, ecpect Hughes who they would stupid to deal.
