Will the Kansas City Royals be dumb again and trade away their young superstars, or be smart and keep them?

Question:The young great superstars are Alex Gordon, Mark Teahen, Billy Butler. Alex Gordon is 23. Billy Butler is 21(Won the MVP in the future All-stars game last year) and Mark Teahen is 25. Will their payrolls in the future force KC to trade them or will they be able to dish out the dough to these future All-Stars?

David Glass, if he digs in his pocket, can afford the payroll when it comes time to resign these guys. Whether he'll do it or not remains to be seen. I think if Dayton Moore can improve the team around these guys over the next 2-3 years, I think Glass will spend the money to keep them around. Glass is the one that let guys like Dye, Beltran and Damon get away, but he's ceded a lot of decision making ability to Dayton Moore. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Royals don't stay on as the farm team to the winners.

GO ROYALS!!!

Should there be an asterick next to players name in the record books?

I think the chances of the Royals trading away Alex Gordon are very slim, but I think the free agent market at the end of the season will decide for everyone of these players. Unfortunately, a lot of teams haven't learned that quick fixes usually don't work.

More power in my swing?

It's not a matter of being "dumb" but a matter of facing economic reality. Assuming these guys become superstars.. is a small market team going to be able to spend 15-20+ million a year on them?

What Position will dominate the era?

they better keep there young superstars because this team has a lot of players with a year or two more playing they can turn this team into a playoff contender

Pitching Coaches.?

Problem isn't that the Royals have traded their young superstars. It's that they've poorly evaluated the talent they got in return.

In a market like KC, they're always going to have to let guys leave, just like in Minnesota and Oakland.

The difference is that the A's and Twins are great at getting near-major league talent in return... where the Royals have hurt themselves.
