How much would it cost someone to buy every seat at Yankee Stadium?
Yes. No single person is bigger than Major League Baseball and a single death however tragic should not cause changes in the entire league's schedule barring security concerns. Other than major inconveniences for other teams and fans, postponing the game would set a dangerous precedent. MLB would then be forced to determine who is important enough to warrant a change in schedule upon his passing. Must it be a current player? How about coaches? The GM? Deaths are emotional for everyone involved, but life and Major League Baseball must go on.How can four outs be recorded in half an inning?
Yeah, why not?Thats life bro.The world stops for noone. Is the only Toronto Blue Jay to win the American League MVP award?
The money-grubbing TV networks wanted the money.I don't get it. If a fan runs onto the field, the networks won't show it because they don't want to encourage copycats.
But they had no problem showing the Virginia Tech murderer's video and the Columbine killers who he copied.
Is Craig Biggio a first ballot Hall of famer?
Bud Selig is an ***!! He has proven that over and over again! I would have left it up to the St Louis organization. They may have chosen to play, but that would have been their choice. I really hope baseball can find someone else to be a solid commish sometime soon! Bob Costas? Frank Robinson? I know, how about Jack Morris, since they can't seem to vote him into the Hall of Fame for some unexplainable reason!!Are the d-backs for real, at 7-2? are will they choke as year goes on?
Sure it was. It would not have been right for them to make them play during the funeral - but a day later - sure.First question was a test. Real question, What were Rod Carew's stats against Nolan Ryan?
Yes it was, life must go on, moping about it wouldn't do any good, quite the opposite probablyRe-post: who wins?? new york or boston??
Absolutely. They are professionals and have jobs to do. Professionals in the business world would be expected to return to work under similar circumstances, so why not baseball players? As I have said before, I'm sorry that he died, and I feel for his family and the Cards. But I don't think that just because he was a professional athlete the circumstances surrounding his death should be overlooked. Sadly, there are people that drive impaired all the time. When people drive drunk, bad things are going to happen. And I just don't think it's right that when people outside the limelight die from drunk driving we say it's stupid and criminal, but when someone of notoriety dies in the exact same way it's a national tragedy. Was it worth it for Cubs to spend about $300 million during Off-season?
no it wasnt he should of given them a day to get there selfs together both the world isnt fairYes. And Bud Selig didn't "make them play". If the Cardinals had a serious problem with playing the next night they could've said something or, if push came to shove, forfeited the game. As many above me have said, life goes on. Playing the game and being active was probably more therapeutic for the players than sitting around, doing nothing and wallowing in depression.
People die every day. Businesses don't close down when an employee passes away. They mourn, they grieve and they get on with life.
Do you think Bartolo Colon will pitch like he did in 05?
I don't think it's right to put this on Bud Selig or MLB. I don't recall hearing anyone from the Cardinals organization protest the fact that they had to play on Monday. If the Cardinals didn't want to play on Monday, they should have spoke up -- but they were smart enough to realize that there was baseball to be played. The best way to begin healing is to get on with your life.
