Why are second base umpires so terrible and repeatedly make incorrect calls in MLB?
Question:Evidence is last nights Mets/ Braves game where Atlanta's second baseman clearly dropped ball but runner was called out, and tonight Yankees/ Red Sox, There was clearly no tag applied in the 1st inning to Coco Crisp. I'm sick of seeing bad calls, don't these guys make big bucks?

They're human and they can;t make the correct call always. Even if they have good training or make the big bucks. Can someone give me a link with the offical rules of the MLB draft?
i dont kmow i know something you wont a gree with the umpires but there the umpires who cares if you agree or dont what they say goesI believe that when you see a call on TV, it looks obvious to you, but they have a harder job, because they have to make a call without the handy thing called instant replay. It is easy for you to say that they do a bad job, but I think that until you get out there without instant replay, you cannot judge fairly.
Your preception doesn't quite seem to mesh with reality, let alone with the rulebook.
Umpires change positions after every game. The home plate umpire for the evening or day is the boss. It's never the same guy.
Probably because they're bored to tears and just stop paying attention. Of all the umps, the 2nd base ump has the least to worry about, so it's no wonder they sleep on the job as much as they do.
Will Barry Bonds come back next year?
Yea i caught that yanks-red sox call. I agree the call was wrong but umpires don't have a 360 view they only can call from their standpoint, their going to make mistakes but they are there because they are at the top of their profession plus Ive seen many umpires come back to say that they were sorry that they missed that call or the call was wrong. Its going to have so what can you doScenario: Furcal is on 3rd. What do you do?
I know what you meanToday they said Crisp was out when he was safe, and yesterday he was safe when we has really out
I wish they would make calls better
But as the saying goes "Umps are remembered for their bad calls, not their good calls" or something like that
What does the "infield fly" rule mean?
You couldn't do any better of a job than they do, so I would just let it go.More Questions & Answers...
