Question about softball rules - Would this count as an out?
Question:I'm on an 8th grade slow-pitch softball team and we aren't good. Haha, well, sometimes we "catch" fly balls but they roll out of our mitts, but we catch them before they hit the ground. This is considered an out.
Often in our games, the ball comes and hits my foot and bounces upward. [I'm pitcher.] If I caught the ball, would it count as an out? It hasn't touched the ground, and in the case above, that was an out.
Please explain.

Going to a baseball game tomorrow.?
As long as it does not touch the ground before it is secured in the mitt, it is an out. So yes, that would be an out.YANKEES now 91/2 out! now do you yanks surrender? no chance of catching boston, fools!?
Yes, you are OUT~!It has been a few years since I called a game, but I believe that an umpire would have to have wonderful vision to see that. If the umpire glances and it appears to have hit the ground, it would be a ball in play. If the umpire sees it, I believe it would be an out.
