Is Brad Lidge REALLY Done because of One Home Run .?
Question:THat was hit by maybe the best hitter in baseball right now? Is he really That weak of Mind?
Answers:
Byun-Hyun Kim was a former Diamondbacks closer. This guy was unhittable in 2001, got to the series, had 2 bad games against the Yankees and it sent his entire career into a downward spiral.
Mitch Williams gave up a homer to Joe Carter that ended the 1993 World Series. Another great closer... completely ruined by one home run.
Donnie Moore blew the 1986 ALCS for the Angels. He was so destroyed by it that he later killed himself.
So yeah, one bad outing, one bad pitch... it has the ability to completely wreck the confidence and damage the psyche of guys like this, who make their living and base their existance on the pursuit of perfection and the furtherance of their team.
Lidge is going through a very rough stretch right now. Maybe he needs a fresh start with another team. Maybe he just needs to find his confidence. Only time will tell.
Are there any pitchers that threw no-hitters in both leagues?
I would say he's done in Houston. Lidge might be best served with a change of scenery. Are San Francisco Giants Fans the worse in Baseball ?
Its sure looking like it. Just as the guy above me said, Lidge defenitely needs a change of scenery and take a shot with another team. Why dont the red sox have Promotions?
he's been strugglin alot lately and last year. a change in scenery like everyone else said would be good for him.How does my fantasy team rate now, updated?
He isn't done because of one homerun. He has given up tons of hits, runs, and homeruns this season and last season. He has also blown many saves, that is why he's done. How many seats are in a row in View sections at Angel Stadium?
It was not just one home run. He game up the walk off home run a few days later to Scott Podsednik in game 2 of the World Series, then game up the game winning single in the clinching game 4.LADY-
WHAT IS YOUR QUESTION THEN? IS THE QUESTION ABOUT BEING WEAK MINDED? THEN THAT ANSWER IS YES. BUT WHEN I SAY THAT IT WAS NOT JUST ONE HOME RUN, BUT THE WORLD SERIES ALSO, DON'T GET ALL HUFFY AND MOUTHY. I ANSWERED THE QUESTION WITH YES IT STARTED, BUT OTHER THINGS CONTRIBUTED. IT WAS NOT ONE PITCH, BUT A TWO WEEK STRETCH THAT STARTED HIS DECLINE - FOR WHATEVER REASON. IF YOU WANT BASEBALL ANSWERS - FINE. IF YOU WANT COMENTS ON THE MENTAL MAKEUP OF BRAD LIDGE, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE MOMMA.
What is the best site for complete pitching stats?
It really seems that the Pujols homer in the playoffs did something to Lidge. It reminds me a lot of Mitch Williams allowing the World Series winning home run to Joe Carter in 1993. Williams was never the same pitcher after that. It also reminds me of Mark Wohlers allowing the home run to Jim Leyritz in 1996...again, Wohlers was never the same. It now appears that quite possibly Lidge will not be the same dominant closer he was before allowing the home run to Pujols. He hasn't seemed to be able to recover mentally.Batters have picked up on his pitches. Or maybe he used to use steroids, u never know.
Yankees vs. Red Sox 4/28 in the Bronx?
I believe so, because now Dan Wheeler has taken over his role as the closer. I have a feeling it has to do with his mechanics, because I have heard his that one of his pitches isn't breaking like it use to. A change of scenery would help him, possibly a change in roles or mechanics.Have you ever witnessed a no-hitter? In the park, preferably, but TV or radio will do.?
That home run Pujols hit off of him would have ruined my career also. Can't hit it much farther or harder than that.Who in the mlb can pitch over 101 mph?
As a perfectionist in the game of baseball, especially as a pitcher, one pitch can start a downward spiral so fast the player can't regain control of themselves or their abilities. Such has been proven in several examples mentioned in previous answers. Albert Pujols left a stigma on Lidge that will probably never leave him!! It started with him( unfortunately), and it has stayed. I hope that a change in scenery may do it for him, but then again, it may not. Bottom line, the only way Brad Lidge is going to get his confidence back is if the Astros make it to the NLCS, 7th game, Wheeler having trouble closing out the game, loads the bases with 2 outs, with Pujols on deck, Garner pulls Wheeler, in comes Lidge, strikes out Pujols on three straight pitches, in front of the home crowd @ Minute Maid!!! OK, not likely, but I sincerely think that's what it'll take to get his swagger back!!I can not get L.A.angels in my 'scoreboard.WHY?
