I would of have to say probably Alex Rodriguez is the logical choice to break the record down the road. He has averaged about 45 hr's a year since he came into the league and if he plays until he is 42, he wll be 32 this July, he has 478 hr's now, so let's conservatively say he averages 35 a year, that would put him at about 828 homers when the season ends in 2017.and would be about 30-40 past Bonds. I don't see anyone else even remotely capable of breaking the record but A-Rod.I would put money on A-Rod or Pujols. A-Rod has been tagged as the guy to break both homerun records.hopefully bonds breaks and arm, leg or that huge easter island head makes him trip and he blows out a knee...geez his head is huge

There are three players I'd put my money down on to break the record, if they played long enough. In no particular order, they are Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, and Ryan Howard. A Rod can put up killer numbers, and is amazing to watch. Pujols is the same way, we've seen both of them put up big time numbers. Ryan Howard is so young, and so good. My vote goes to Alex Rodriguez. Us MLB baseball fans have to face the truth that Barry Bonds will break the homerun record and there's nothing really we can do to stop that from happening, but we certainly have the right to not call him the "Homerun King." Barry Bonds cheated his way into the record and doesn't even deserve the title, he deserves an * next to his name in the HR record statbook. Unlike Bonds, A-Rod deserves the HR title because he is playing fairly without using steroids to enhance his playing ability. It's all skill that A-Rod is using in playing the game, so I hope he beats the Barry Bonds' illegal HR record AND Mark McGwire's illegal 70 in a season HR seasonal record.How is McGwire not in baseball's Hall of Fame and Michael Irvin is in football's?

Potentially many guys...the entire issue here is staying healthy for many seasons, and if that can happen, there are many candidates...I think Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Ryan Howard, Vlad Guerrero, or even Justin Morneau all have a legitimate chance, but Barry Bonds is going to play past 2007, so he will probably push the record around 800 (officially "clean" too), so I think these players can get to Hank's record, just not Barry'sThere is no doubt that A Rod will break bonds record once he gets it from Hank!
