How many games out do the Yankees have to be?
Question:How many games out do the Yankees have to be before we officially call them dead? Because they are 10 1/2 back of Boston, and seven games out in the Wild Card, with 5 teams ahead of them, and one tied.
I don't believe they can come back. Boston is too good, and Detroit and Chicago are better teams than New York. Stick a fork in them. Another year with no title.

Barry Bonds...to celebrate or not!?
I would say 15 games and everyone would agree its over. What people do not understand is that no only do the Yankees have to go on a tear but the Red Sox would have to play below .500 baseball for the rest of the season.. It aint happening. It's still May. There's a lot of baseball left to be played. And while they'll probably need to win 70-75 more games to make the playoffs, and that's a longshot for anyone at this point in the season, it's not impossible.
My son has baseball cards and i am trying to find out what there worth?
I'd love to be able to say that the NYY won't come back, but there are simply too many games left in the season to be sure about anything. I'm thrilled about the lead the Bosox have, but I'm not going to go around getting arrogant just yet. A lot can happen between now and the playoffs.Who was the last pitcher to win over 25 games in a season.?
history lesson2005 yankees were out 10 games in august and came back to win the division
2006 yankees were 6 back in august and came back to win the division by a whopping 10 games
its may
sportscenter was joking this morning bcuz the red sox magic number is 107!
if they are 10 back in august, then yea, you can probably call em dead
Worst little league field in Seattle for Juniors?
Until mid-August, it's too early for other teams to consider the Yankees out of it. But the Yankees had better make something happen if they want to hang around. What happened to Keith Van Horn.?
If they are within 15 games at the all-star break, they are fine. The real season starts July 15th.
How to find an era in baseball?
I know you are a big baseball fan and realize the season is young and the Yankees are a long way from dead. Like them or not you can not overlook their offensive capabilities and when they put it all together, which they will, they will be right back in the race. I am not a Yankees or Red sox fan but to all the Red Sox fans I will quote Satchel Paige when he said " Don't ever look over your shoulder, someone might be gaining on you".Should the Brewers head back to the A.L.?
There's alot of time in the season left they have been 14 games back before at the end of May before and still won the division the YANKEES are the YANKEES they are going to fight back with out a doubt. The Yankees have too explosive a line-up to completely count out at this point. ( Bias alert: I am a lifelong Yankees fan) As other posters have pointed out, the Yanks have been in the hole before and have come storming back. Witness last years 5 game sweep at Fenway.
However, this team faces additional obstacles that will prevent a dramatic comeback. First, the Yank's pitching staff is a grease fire. Guys either can't pitch or get hurt if they can. When you are looking at 44 year old Roger Clemens to be your staff savior you are in deep trouble. Mid-relief is still a question mark and Mariano is not the lights out closer he used to be.
Furthermore, the cloud over Jason Giambi is going to be a larger distraction as the season progresses.
If Barry Bonds hits one or more home runs in the all star game do the runs count toward the record?
They need to be more games out then there are games left before I will call them dead, unless they fall like 25 games out, maybe at 25+ games ill call them deadGive me your're best baseball chants!?
Do anyone remember 1978? The Red Sox were leading the division, and then the bottom dropped out.The Yankees caught Boston on the last day of the season, and forced a one game play-off.Can we say"Bucky Dent". So,until the division is officially wrapped up,THE NEW YORK YANKEESARE NEVER OUT OF IT. Besides, once the weather turns hotter than blazes, the Red Sox become like Antarctica in the middle of winter.
Oh,by the way,I am a long time Yankee fan.
What do u think about this baseball players ?
Its only May and they have a lot of injuries and pitching issues. If they get healthy look out because they will be back. Still 2/3 of the season left lots of teams have some back from this type of slump.Just wondering if someone could let me know what WHIP is?
When they're ten back with nine left to play, I'll exhale with confidence.Never trust the Yankees to die for you. You must kill them.
Any magic number greater than zero is too large to relax.
Can anyone find a link of Endy Chavez catch in the NLCS Game 7 that actually works?
err its early my friend..way earlyi would say you need to put them 15 games back by july because that would break the major league record of the infamous 1978 season
the yankees are definitely capable of making up this deficit, some of their guys aren't hitting as well as they should be right now, and their pitchers have been hurt or inconsistent all season long...and boston won't be able to keep up a 120 win pace
Why does a-rod make so much money??
The one point everyone is failing to mention here is that George Steinbrenner is desperate to win. I am a long time Yankees fan, but have to admit that there are some problems with the team this year. If Yankees management is willing to have a $200 million payroll, and sign Roger Clemens for almost a million a start, do you really think they will not fix the holes in the roster? The Yankees have more prospects this year than they have had in a long time, which is good for trade bait. They are always capable of pulling a block buster trade, especially at the trade deadline. Could the Yankees have Lyle Overbay or Richie Sexson playing first base pretty soon, and/or have Dontrelle Willis or CC Sabitathia pitching in the starting rotation? There is an outside chance of getting Santana from the Twins, albeit a long shot. If you doubt it, just wait and see. This is probably Joe Torre's last year as manager, and it could be Steinbrenner's last year as the head of the ownership before he passes the torch. Mark my words that the Yankees will make the post season. Everyone counted them out the past few years early in the season, but the last time I checked, we have nine straight division titles. I'll give the Red Sux credit that they have been playing good ball this year, especially given their great pitching, but it is foolish to count out the Bronx Bombers. They have too much riding on this season.More Questions & Answers...
