Which Would Be A Good Baseball Topic To Cover?
Question:As part of my writing assignment in my English class, I have to type up a research project on any controversial issue. Being a diehard baseball fan (GO DODGERS!!), I have decided to cover something revolving around baseball. But I am stumped on the particulars of a subject I want to cover. I am thinking of the steroid controversy, but what specifics regarding that would you think would be good to cover, or any other controversial baseball topics? Thanks!

The Designated Hitter. I wrote a speach about it last year.If you want to do steroids you can do something with the different uses. They aren't just used to get bigger and stronger. They can be used to speed recovery, so a player can last the whole season.

If you go with the steroid scandal... The controversy of Barry Bonds eclipsing the home run record of Hank Aaron. I mean Bonds has never been caught using steroids but everyone believes he did... so did he cheat... do his numbers count.. should baseball acknowledge his record home run if he gets there (22 to go) It's interesting and definately controversial.What team won the most awards last year?
Talk about the BALCO Steroid Scandal in San Fran, players who have admitted, accused are suspected (Bonds, Giambi, Sosa, Matthews Jr., Mora, Roberts, etc.) The effects on their bodies, the punishments, how it ruins the game... It'd probably be a good idea on how to stress its not fair for guys who don't take steroids not getting records and posting big numbers.I would like to know what they do with broken bats at a MLB game.?

I would definetly do the steroid controversy. You could maybe cover the topic of Bonds or how steroid affects players' careers and reputations. McGwirer, Bonds, & Conseco would be good guys to cover with this.Ok, maybe you could talk about how baseball has changed. I did that in 6th grade and it was awesome. I talked about the bats have changed, and the mitts. i don't know if that helped or not.

Here's one that I personally care about - fantasy sports and baseball. Apparently baseball (mlb) believes that they own the actual statistics for their players. Not just the images or video or any other player likeness stuff, but the actual statistics. The stuff you see in the box score in the paper. To me, the shameful heart of the steroids controversy is that MLB turned a blind eye to it when it was evident 10 years ago. Remember that after the strike in 1994, baseball lost a lot of interest. What brought a lot of fans back and also new fans, was Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa chasing the single season home run record.steriods is too obvious.I would do something on the falling numbers of African-americans currently in the major leagues,and why fewer of the them are choosing baseball.That would be more interesting than the same old steroids stories.

years ago i wrote one about the free agency aspect. it pretty much started in 1970 with curt flood. its a pretty interesting topic because he stood up against the owner of the cardinals and paved way for players to get overly paid wages and freedom to move to the highest bidder. give it a go.More Questions & Answers...
