How do you think Matsuzaka will pitch this season?

Question:Obviously everyone knows about Daisuke's transfer from Japan to Boston. So how do you think he will do during the season? Do you think that the Sox have a chance for a World Series win with him? Or do you think he's overrated?

Answers:

Which player has had the most surprising season so far?

He won't make or break them as a world series contender. If he walks as many people as he did during Spring Training, the bats in the AL East will eat him alive. Hes definitely a power pitcher with strikeout potential, but teams like the Yankees have a lot of patient hitters and you can't get away with walking those guys 3 or 4 times in 7 innings. If anyone is expecting him to be a 20 game winner and contend for the Cy Young I think they are expecting too much. He'll get 15 wins or somewhere around there, but AL hitters will have him figured out by the All Star break.

How many pitchers can you use in a game?

i think he will have a good season 14-17 wins, he has awesome stuff and withouth a good year from him and beckett the red sox could be in trouble. i think after a year in the bigs hitters will start to figure him out, i actually seen him picth in ST and he picthes behind by throwing off speed stuf then his fastball instead of throwing fastballs then his off speeed stuff like americans do, so i think after this year hes going to need to make that adjustmen but he has the stuff and the control to do it

What excerises can i do to build up my bat speed?

He will suck just like the rest of the red sox

Bonds and the Home Run Record?

i think if they paid so much for him he ought to be good. but i also went to a red sox/phillies exibition game on saturday. matsuzaka pitched and he was really good! i definatly think they have a chance at the world series, or at least i hope so :]

Will Felix be a cy young candidate at the end of the season?

I don't think he'll perform to the 100 million dollar standard the Red Sox had to pay to get him (50 mil to just talk to him!) but he should be good. Probably will win rookie of the year because with all the hype, even an average season will win him the award.
I think he'll get 16 wins, about 190 K's. Good season but Johan will win Cy Young no doubt about that.
I don't think the BoSox have a good shot at the series though because they play in a high-flying offensive powered division with numerous hitting stars like A-Rod, Jeter, Crawford, Tejada, Wells, Glaus, and many more big bats. And while so much competitiveness will help them come playoff time (if they make it), Schilling can't get it done anymore (as featued in his teary-eyed face against the Royals), Beckett gets injured as much as either Prior or Wodd of the Cubs, and besides Manny or Big Papi, I wouldn't trust anyone on the Red Sox team in a game-winning situation.
If you're a Red Sox fan, sorry. But an offensive acquisition around the trade deadline and I'll probably change my mind. They could and probably will get the Wild Card, but I don't see them going far in October. And Dice-K will win ROY with a good season but not Cy Young-worthy.

Who are the only players in major league history with 20 wins and 20 saves in a season (different seasons)?

I think he will be good...but I wouldn't automatically call this a World Series year for the Red Sox...He is an enigma, with the legend of the gyroball...but after the thumping the Red Sox got with Schilling pitching on opening day, I hope he is the real deal...If Schilling struggles, it will be up to Josh Beckett and Dice K...With Tim Wakefield, you never seem to know how he is going to pitch...He can get 10 SOs or 10 walks...

Why is the fired Yankees conditioning coach a scapegoat for a bunch of overpaid crybabies?

I think he will be very good at least 15 wins, he was amazing with the seibu lions back in japan, he won the world baseball classic MVP, no one in the major leagues has seen him except in spring training and a little bit in the world baseball classic, and he also pitched 6 innings of no hit ball against the reds in spring training (that day they had their opening day lineup).

Whats your opinion on fans getting brutal at games?

I think he'll start off hot but he'll fade toward the end of the season. He'll end up somewhere around 14-8. I don't think he'll ever live up the the $100 million the Sox paid for him.

I just don't see the Sox winning the World Series this year. There are just too many question marks - Schilling and Wakefield are both 40+, Beckett was horrible last year, etc.
