Pavano is absolutely for real. The guy had a run of tough luck with the injuries, and he's never been a very durable guy.Pavano has a habbit of getting hurt, trying to play through it, and hurting himself worse. He did it a lot early in his career, and he did it at the start of his Yankee career.
He hurt his back in the spring in 2005, pitched with it and screwed up his shoulder. And the rest is history.
Now he's healthy, he's back to throwing that heavy sinking fastball, and he's having success. The Twins are supposed to be a competitor in the Central and he shut them down last night for 7 innings. And the guy only threw about 77 pitches through 7 innings last night. He probably could have gone the distance.
I went to opening day and saw Pavano pitch. He didn't pitch that bad, but the Yanks made 3 errors behind him, and made some shoddy decisions on defense (Jeter and Cano fussing with a runner on second instead of playing their positions, next pitch, a soft liner RIGHT where Jeter should have been).
He'll win 15-18 games this year with a sub-4 ERA.

Carl Pavano is a victim of his own idiocy. Most of his health issues in the last two seasons have been brought on by his own doing, so I'd watch out for that right there first thing. Pavano's last successful campaign in the majors was with the florida Marlins after which he immediately jumped ship to one of the harshest place for any athlete to play in New York (just ask ARod). Since he still really hasn't even played a full season in NY and he is injury prone mostly of his own accord I would say grabbing Pavano would be a bad move, however if he stays healthy he will recieve run support like almost no other pitcher in baseball so his stats may not even matter as long as he can stay 5 or 6 innings he'll be in line for wins for you.Who is actually (this season) the best pitcher in the NY Mets?

If Pavano, On the YANKEES, with maybe the best offense in Baseball behind him, can pitch Decently, not even as good as he pitched last night in Minnesota (Which he is very capable of repeating), then Yes its a good pick up in Fantasy...the guy will win 15 games by Default and staying healthy, and if he is good, he could hit 17-18 wins. He looked ok in his start, but he gets injured to easy. And to be honest, I am not sure if he can pitch that well all season.More Questions & Answers...
