they are off to a poor start because they cant get their pitching and batting squads to work together to win. Most of their wins have occured when both are on the same page, such as how cleveland is on. They have one of the greatest squads today, with detroit and cinncinatti, but struggle to get powerful results at the same time. In their losses the pitching is great but the hitting is poor, and vice versa. They just need to work harder and pump it up more. They have the skill but need the heart.Who is the best team in the National League?
Their pitching rotation is not very good. A-rod is their only hot hitter right now. They've got the injury bug. Joe Torre is old. The Red Sox are 5-1 against them.It's because they put all this money into this team with buying amazing players who all want to be a one man team and become their own super star. they don't work together so, this makes them only an average team.

Injuries 2 tha pitching staff, not the staff itself. The staff would be good without the injuries, but now Wang, Mussina,Pavano, and now Karstens r hurt, they haven't been going well. Overworked bullpen goes along with the poor strarting pitching. I'd like to draw comparisons to the 78 Yankees when Catfish Hunter was basically lost to injury for the first half of the season and all the young pitchers stunk. But they had Ron Guidry out there every fifth day giving them 8 innings plus and automatic wins. They so far lack such a stopper. But they are not out of this season by a long shot.If you look at the scores they have been putting up you will see that they have had the scoring to win. The trouble is that they are where the Red sox where a couple years ago with the pitching troubles. They have had the same start before and pulled it off to win the division!
