I want to hear everyones thoughts about Barry Bonds breaking Hank Aarons record.?
Question:As he approaches Aarons record in the next month or so, Does Barry desearve the media hassles? Do you think its a race thing? What would happen if it were say Cal Ripken or Joe Mauer? I know Barry isnt a very likeable guy and he brings it on himself, but I dont think he desearves all the hate that he gets... Barry also never tested positive for any steroids and should be innocent until proven guilty. Im a collector of sports cards and it is obvious that he has gotten bigger since his days with the Pirates.

a lot of questions to answer here:1. bonds deserves every single media hassle he gets because he is arrogant and disrespectful to the press, and he doesn't understand nor does he care to understand the fact that they are just doing their job when they ask him questions he'd rather not answer
2. i don't think it's a race thing so much as it's a public relations thing, i don't care what color they are, if they treat the media and public like bonds does they will be hated
3. if it were someone without connection to steroids, then everyone would be celebrating and talking about how exciting it is that the record may go down, but the ties to performance-enhancers and his attitude make bonds a hated figure

The way that I see it there are two ways to look at it.#1- You still have to be an outstanding hitter to jack homeruns in the MLB. Steroids only allow Barry to hit 340 ft homers 355 ft. It still takes a ton of skill to nail sinkers and sliders and such. The juice obviously didn't affect his field play becauce he looks like the Addam's family butler tanking around the outfield. ...But:
#2- Taking steroids is cheating, and if you're going to allow that, than you might as well allow lasers and robot legs and attack falcons.
He is obviously the most dominant hitter most of us will see in our lifetime, but to allow him to hold the record would be a travesty. And, if you think it's a race thing that people aren't rooting for him, grow up. It's because he's a dick. Maybe in a few years a dick with robot legs and lasers though.

Bonds does not deserve to be praised or reveered for passing Aaron. Bonds cheated along the way and Americans abhor cheaters and liars. If Bonds never used steroids and human growth hormones, then why hasn't he sued the writers of that book that details Bonds usage. When Bonds does pass Aaron, I will most like utter a couple of swear words. Also, I hope Bonds passes Aaron when the Giants are on the road because there will be a lot of booing but it wouldn't surprise me if Bonds held himself out of the lineup if it looked like he would hit HR#756 away from San Francisco.I am sick of all you Black Racists implying that it is a RACE issue.
