What about having Instant Replay in Baseball?

Question:Yesterday I was watching the DBacks Vs Rockies game and there was a ball hit out into left field so close to the foul pole that it could have gone either way as a home run or foul ball. The umpire had called it a foul ball. But what about having instant replay in those types of situations? What does it take away from the game or does it make it better? I tend to lean towards instant replay. I love it in football.

How do I start a summer traveling little league baseball team?

I believe instant replay should be utilized but ONLY in certain situation. NEVER in the balls n strikes category. But as far as balls hit and runners on base...DEFINITELY. First base running in particular. I see so many "close calls" on a runner headed to first and MOST of these in the post season can change the entire makeup of the game.

The game is long enough. I dont have an entire day to watch a game.

I bought a MLB game and I was wondering what team I should be and what are some players that I should get?

In those situations, I would agree with you. Sometimes it really can make a huge difference in the outcome of a game. But on the other hand, it might be like opening a can of worms. If it's used for fair or fould balls, then some might argue that it needs to be used for pitches and strikes.

I like the human aspect that an umpire brings to a game.

i think instint replays would be hard to place all the cameras to see the whole Field. With all the Umps. we shouldn't need them

How to research sports memoribilia?

Instant replay in baseball, I believe is essential. When plays can go either way, especially in the playoffs, the umpires should take a while to look at the play before making a call. Of course, instant replay for every little thing is not going to work.

Who is the greatest living Baseball player alive now since Williams and DiMaggio last carried that Title?

NO NO NO NO NO. The umpires make the right call on those types of plays 99.9% of the time. Human error is part of the game. If you used it for those home runs, you'd have to use it for close plays at first, then for shoestring catches, then for a sliding play at home and the list goes on and on until your finally using instant replay to call balls and strikes - and that would absolutely destroy the game. Human decision making and the differences between umpires have defined this game for over a hundred years and should continue to do so in the future without the help of cameras and machines. There is nothing that instant replay can add to a game, but a lot that it can take away.

I just opened my front door and Stuart Scott said BOOYAH! and kicked me in the shins. How should i retaliate?

I think that instant replay should only be used in those fair/foul situations near the foul poles. I've seen way to many umps get those calls wrong to trust them if they're coming all the way from the bases. However, IR should be abandoned in the playoffs since we have 2 extra umps just to watch those situations.
