Why do sports reporters adore the St. Louis Cardinals?

Question:Most fans of contending teams, and most self-respecting writers would at least... point-out that team management has duped the fanbase (and saved roster-$$) by having Braden Looper & Adam Wainright as their #2, #3 starters? This team isn't finishing over .500 this year.

How do I find out my batting average?

Thank you for pointing out "the emperor's new clothes" statement of the season.

Everyone wants to ignore the fact that the Cardinals' LOST four key elements to their rotation with MULDER injured and the defections of SUPPAN, WEAVER, MARQUIS to the Free Agent Market. Still people are somehow duped into believing the Cards will reign again with two converted relievers and a retread (Kip Wells) shoring up the pitching staff.

To quote Seinfeld, "NOT BLOODY LIKELY"

The general answer to your question is the media is so enamored with TONY LA RUSSA that they are convinced that he will somehow use his baseball genius to FIND a way to win. Afterall he once found a way to keep Albert Pujols in the lineup for two week without throwing the ball to protect an injuried elbow.

They adore LaRussa because he's a throwback to the Golden Age of Baseball when the Manager RAN the club and was not a "Club Med" run by a bunch of spoiled superstars. His cerebral approach and adherence to the fundamentals takes baseball to a "higher plane" thus allowing him a little more latitude because of this godlike status. As a matter of fact, if you look very closely at the Cardinals logo you will see "In TLR We Trust" scribbled in very small letters

Are all cities as obsessed with baseball as St. Louis?

Maybe because they are the defending champs after barely making the playoffs last year. What's not to love about a hardworking team with the games best player?

And they will finish over .500 this year, but they won't repeat.

How did the Baseball team the Mets get their name?

I agree that they are getting way too much media hype, but they are a club that knows how to win. They get attention because they have offensive firepower with Pujols and Edmonds and also they have a sound defense spearheaded by Jimmy in CF. Carpenter is going to win the CY Young again and their bullpen is realitively strong. They have a chance to repeat and in a weaker division, they will be dominant in the NL. The Cards deserve some attention, but not as much as theyre getting. And this is coming from a Pirate Fan!! Yes, i admitted that. Im ashamed.

Mets question..?

because they are the defending champs that will go no where this season because the REDS will take it away from them in the division.

Women softball in New York state ?

Because they are the best team in the MLB until October rolls around and if they don't repeat then you will be asking the same question about some other team this time next year. Its not about saving money its about not paying too much for a mediocre product.

GO REDBIRDS!
