Are baseball balk rules stupid, just get rid of it?
Question:I think pitchers are under too many rules when trying to throw runners out. Half the time the umpires don't even know if a balk happened. Slows the game down as well

If you ran a baseball team and someone offered you $18 million to take Roger Clemens, would you?
The balk rule was put in place to SPEED UP the game. If there was no balk rule, every time a runner got on, the pitcher could fake a wind up and then turn and try to get a runner that may now be leading off further because of the wind up. There's already quite a few throws to 1st to keep the runner on, there would be much more if there was no rule in place like that. What is Better for baseball a lot of offense or great pitching?
So you'd rather have the hitters fooled by the pitchers, right? What about throwing over to keep a runner close? Do you want to drop that as well? While you're at it, why not also dump the infield fly rule? There are reasons for these rules. Each of them helps to keep the balance between pitchers and baserunners.

Balk rule is a good idea why the hell would you get rid of them. So what you are saying is you rather have someone stop their delivery completely and be able to pick a runner off anytime they would like to all the first baseman would have to do as the pitcher is pitching is state that he's going to second. He just turns around and throws to second after he starts his delivery? Nope balk rules are good for baseball. Whether you agree or not. The rule is there to protect the runner.Does anybody else agree with me that the D-Rays will be a scary team in a few years?
It would make stolen bases nearly impossible. A pitcher could go through their pitching motion all the way and then throw it back to first. Balk rules do not slow down the game. Most trained umpires know what the balk rules are, and they are needed to make baseball a game where runs can actually score. What is perfect baseball weather?
no cause the n the pitcher could fake everyone one out..like the base runner , on every pitch..What are some good second baseman gloves for under $100?
I agree with youI have MLB 07 The Show and i got a question about it?
i hate balk rules. more than likely, fans aren't looking for balks (or even know what a balk is), so it's confusing when one umpire calls it, which then leads to the pitcher and coach arguing the call, an umpires meeting, and then having to ask the person sitting next to you 'what the crap is going on?'More Questions & Answers...
