Aaron in upset because he sees his record being broken by someone he percieves (right or wrong) to be cheating. He doesnt want to be there because he feels that he rightfully earned this record and Bonds hasn't. In regard to your last sentence, I believe that because both are black, this takes race out of the equation because it cant be about what color skin is breaking the record. Is there any way for me to listen to a live streaming online broadcast of the Boston Redsox?
From what I've heard, Hank Aaron is not a nice human being, so I wouldn't expect him to have the class to show up.Having Trouble with hitting the baseball. PLZ does any one have advice.?
I don't think Aaron is acting bitter or out of ill will towards Bonds. I think he just doesn't want to deal with all this steroid crap and all these issues about Bonds. If he supports Bonds I am sure he knows people are going to ask him why...blah blah blah. It's not worth the hassle. Sure he should show respect, but just because he isn't there doesn't mean he can't do that.Who was the first switch hitter to hit a hundred in baseball?
it is because Hank feels that Bonds accomplishments are tainted just because of those allegations. Hank is disappointed in what the game of baseball has turned into. He wished Bonds home run career was clean and without problems. Then he wouldn't be so bitter about it.I'm sure I would feel as he does. He accomplished his record drug free he didn't cheat, that makes him a legitimate record holder. To be disrespected by Bud Selig and MLB to allow someone who doesn't legitimately deserve this record due to cheating, bump him for what he worked hard for, is an insult!
Do you think Dice-K will win the Cy Young award, or any other awards?
A historic event? Yeah, right. Barry Bonds record: most HRs buy a whiny candyass on steroids.Who do you think is the all-time best STRIKE OUT pitcher in MLB?
It's either because he is a bitter old man, or because he thinks his attendance would bestow unwarranted legitimacy on Bonds's cheating. How many world series has each team won?
It could be the Hammer is legitamately a busy man as can be seen through his enhanced role endowed through the new braves ownership. It could further be he at his age just doesn't feel like going on the road waiting for Bonds to break it. It's not like they can tell him to be a certain park a certain day and it's just that simple. maybe he just doesn't personally like Bonds and feels like many people do that the record being broke will be tainted and doesn't wish to look supportive of it. It could be all three or something else entirely. If it were me I wouldn't be there. Bonds was one of the most gifted players in the game and someone I greatly enjoyed watching. over the last several years it has become increasingly difficult to believe he did it all natural the way the Hammer did. Even if Bonds never juiced he was a first ballot hall of famer, with all that has gone on he has sadly turned into a sideshow and athlete that will never be viewed as equal to the greats before him because of this taint. Fair or not that's just the popular perception. Why would hank want to be part of that? He has always been known as a very classy individual and for him to not appear the reason must be very strongly ingrained in his mind. We may never know the truth of it and quite frankly it's none of our business. he is free to choose what he wants to do and has earned the respect and right to do so.Who do you think are the top 20 current Dominican-born players in baseball?
Once again, why would Aaron, at his age, follow Bonds around the country waiting for him to hit that one home run? All to see a disgraceful CHEATER break his record? And some of you people think it's like missing the high school graduation of your only kid. Get real.Who is better,Ozzie Smith or Omar Vizquel?
Hank aaron broke the record despite all the death threats against how does it feel when you got cops with u every game of the season? Did he use steroids to get to babe ruth's number?? Its a shame that his record be broken this way. I respect his decision of not going because personally hank aaron played his heart out on every game despite that many people hated him because he was black. Will the Tigers make any big trades this season, if so, what??
I don't really think it's about being bitter. Aaron is well aware that there is a lot of steroid allegations around Bonds, and Aaron knows his presence would get him in the middle of that mess. I can just hear a reporter, "Mr. Aaron, do you think that Bonds in on steroids?"he is just a grumpy old man who is mad cuz the best baseball player of all time is bout to break his record which is the greatest record in all of sports
Who is the heaviest player in Major League Baseball?
As a life long Braves fan, and a fan who met Aaron as a kid, he was the one of the nicest people around, he was visiting the minor league team, and sign autographs and posed for pictures well after the game was over, I think we where the last people to leave the staduim. I don't think he is bitter, and if you read about all of what he went thru when he broke the record and his views on things you might get why he isn't going. When he got close to the record, there was all the press and death threats, against him and his family. He got sick under all the stress of it, and has said more then once that he never wanted to go thur that again, and that the record wasnt that important to him. I believe he said a few years ago,(before bonds was even thought to be in it, when big Mac looked like he had a outside chance) that he wouldnt' be involved with any chase for his record.
I don't think that he is happy about bonds, but I don't know if that is true. I think he just wants to stay out of the press, and doesnt want to add to all the crap that goes with that record. If he said he thinks bonds is good or bad would only add to something he doesnt' want anypart of to begin with. And like he has said, he rarely goes to games in Atlanta these days, he watches them from home( hes in his 70's)
If Bonds had done this clean, Aaron wouldn't hesitate to be there. But Aaron knows what the rest of the world knows, of at least what the rest of the intelligent world, the rest of the critical thinkers in this world know - that Barry Lamar Bonds is a dirty as they come, and has been for the last 8 1/2 years.
There is no threat to Aaron's record, and the next monumental moment in baseball will be when Bonds is thrown out of the game for good.
NO! Hammerin' Hank exemplified grace and class and honesty. Bonds is a punk cheater!
