Once upon a time it was, but no longer.Germany Schaefer is credited with the only known incident of stealing first (from second) successfully; this allowed his teammate, on third, to score.

it's legal and ty cobb did it onceWhen will Yankees injured players return?
MLB Rule 7.08 (i):"Any runner is out when, after he has acquired legal possession of a base, he runs the bases in reverse order for the purpose of confusing the defense or making a travesty of the game. The umpire shall immediately call “Time” and declare the runner out."
The rule was put into place in 1920, so there are a few instances of earlier players doing so.
Can an Umpire call in the same game at which his/her daughter is playing in? ( let alone pitching)?
once you are on a base you can not go backwards. Say you were "safe" going backwards you would be out as soon as someone tagged you.How would the Yankees do without Alex Rodriguez?
No, you cannot steal first base.yes, but tht would be retarded
Anyone else like when Manny Ramirez stands after he hits a HR?
y whould you want to know that but im sure there is not a rule that its not legelI think it would be allowed. But, who could do it. It's hard enough to steal a base running conventionally. I will say though, I've heard that Jimmy Piersall would occasionally round the bases backwards after hitting a home-run.
What is the maximum amount of players baseball teams can have?

Ask both Ken Williams and Lloyd Moseby. How is dodger stadium compared to other parks?
It isn't allowed, but in some cases it should be.For example, sometimes a runner gets to second and they find that their teammate is being chased back to second base in a run-down. I think they should be allowed to run back to first base and give their teammate a chance at second, although it probably wouldn't be good baserunning.
Where can i send a card to be autographed by Dwight Gooden(baseball player)?
No. It creates an opportunity for the offense to make a travesty of the game. Ruling -- interference, ball dead, runner declared out.More Questions & Answers...
